WEll, I keep telling my son that there is a Tooth Fairy. I guess if you want to believe in Peak Oil then there's not much difference.

Take Care and I don't think you need to study or learn what you're talking about.

JRWakefield, enjoying your well thought out and well written posts on this subject. I have been on a steep learning curve these past years since 2008, and I always appreciate another analysis and point of view. Please continue to provide us food for thought.

After the near collapse of the world economy in 2008 I got very angry, down right pissy about it. I figured we taxpayers/minions let the big boys have their big pay cheques, fancy limousines, and expense accounts, etc., after all, they seemed to like running the world, and their job was to keep the world on an even keel, so we could continue to pay our taxes and wring some quality of live out of what was left. But as things started to collapse, (thankfully my little part of the world did okay), it sure opened my eyes. I actually bought a new book (not sometime I do very often), Too Big To Fail by Andrew Ross Sorkin. I have since found many interesting books at the second-hand stores about economics, politics, corporate elite, military industrial complex, etc. It motivates my prepping activities.

😆
Supply manipulation or not, it ain't a bottomless pit. Even if the earth does create oil, it took x million years to create those fields. If we use faster than the supply can regenerate .....
It's not just peak oil, it's peak everything. Our population is at a point where the earth's supply can't keep up with demand.

Stocking up isn't enough, you have to learn to create a supply of essentials like food and energy for yourself and get off their system of supply.
That's probably the best way you can insulate yourself from the economic situation.

For those who don’t know it, in Feb of 2011, FEMA in the states put out a mass order for dehydrated food. 1 BILLION dollars worth, where as before the highest they ever purchased was a $100 million. Panic buying?, and for whom, the people, or for the Military/government officials that will hide in the D.U.M.B’s.
Deep Underground Military Bases, Please don’t take my word on this, check it out on your own. If they are all hot and bothered about prepping, shouldn’t you????

He does have some good posts, and then there are others that are attacking for not being 100% on board with his/her full ideas.

OK PEEPS, keep the thoughts and ideas going, if you do not agree, step beyond grade 1 level to say so, make your case, present your facts and let everyone else read and learn, discuss. Direct attacks and slanders are not liked here! ➡

LOL Wow, where to start. There is sooo much material here.

Bottom line is Wakefield doesn't know what he's talking about. If you think he's right find evidence to prove the worls works as he says it does.

Or just post funny shit like this.

hhmm Denob has addressed this person in another topic,
Perf had a good suggestion to just ignore so I think that is best as well.

Wakefield just keep up as your doing,;
and no the Island is not going to sink, the water will rise and yes, the average height of the predicted Ocean rising is higher than most of the houses and lands at 25-45ft as predicted. A Mega Tsunami even in the range of the one that hit Japan or a larger one, some have predicted the 100ft and larger Tsunamis will devastate areas even quite far inland. Older cheaper wetsuits might actually be a good prep, as well as inflatable rubber boats, although the ones with wooden or metal bottoms would be better as the debris would tear through anything less. Even an old metal rowboat, a cheap old dude might be a good idea as a prep item, could put in over a trailer or turn it into a trailer and fill with supplies.

Just some thoughts. hhmmm
O ya, everyone should have some sturdy Black Cadillacs as well, they are good and hearty, great for walking and protect your feet and ankles, easy to keep clean by scraping off the mud, muck and floating poop.

Um, how will the water rise? Global warming? I thought we moved beyond that.

On this board there is a surfiet of misinformation. You people really need to do some research. Wakefield's ideas about economics are purile at best. There will be a collapse, we both agree on this. I can provide an 11 year old who can provide the math it will happen in a lot less than 10-20 years. A LOT. So to keep telling someone to keep spreading BS is not as responsible as asking him for the proof of his comments.

I'm glad we understand that Vancouver Island will not sink. I was somewhat terrified that I would find a third person who felt this way. (The Juan de Fuca plate is the fastest subducting plate on the planet and provides us with lots of minor earthquakes. It will not provide the vaulted 'big one' )

What I would like to know is what is everyone's definition of economic collapse.
Is it an economy such as that of the great depression?
Perhaps a scenario where you can no longer use the Canadian dollar to buy bread.
Just what does the term mean to you?

Is there a 'Like' button?

Defining Economic collapse is a very valid item. It is usually the first part of any Bill or paper, Definitions. Currently, we are not in a Depression becuase the governments (who love us) say that according to their definitions we're not in one. Now go grab an older Economics textbook and flip to the glossary and find a definition for Depression. slightly at odds with what the Government says. Most people using these older definitions put us in a Depression since 2008. Slightly varying dates and slightly varying definitions. John williams of Shadow Stats . com has a completely different veiwpoint on what's going on. He pegs inflation at about 11%. Our Central Banks tell us it's only 2%.

I would say that economic collapse with a fiat system is really simple. A fiat based money is predicated on the faith of the people backing it. so how much faith is in Ben bernake's ability to print more money? Lots I would say, however at some point people are going to start moving away from the USD due to the violent inflation which this is creating. The Russians and Chinese have a bi-lateral agreement to use each others money for their trade. This lowers the amount of artifical demand for the USD, the World Reserve currency. Saddam was using Euros to sell his oil. Gaddafi was setting up a gold dinar with DSK Dominic Strauss-Kahn. Iran is selling oil for anything BUT USD! This lowers the demand for the USD.
If the USD starts to slide, loose value rapidly, they will take us to war with Iran and close the striats of Hormuz. The cost of oil will sky rocket and create an atrifical demand for the USD.

The trouble is while it's harder to define what it is, it may be easier to define what it's not. We are not in a 'jobless recovery'. Larry Summers is a moron.

If the grid goes down with a solar flare and everything becomes regional? Yeah, economic collapse. That we are in a Depression to me means we're collapsing as a nation. So if you're not actively prepping for the worst right now, you're doing something wrong.

Pro-tip: being able to create anti-psychotic meds after that event will make you rich and respected. You won't need silver if you can make Zoloft!
