I got this in the mail;

"The following is a warning which has been issued to you by an administrator or moderator of this site.

Monkonotora,
I can see that your attitude here has gotten a few members quite upset. This forum is all about sharing ideas and thoughts and to help each other prepare. You have shown a condescending tone towards anyone who dares to have an opposing point of view. As moderator, I have received a report, a PM and even an email about your posts. Please, if you cannot be civil, then refrain from posting. All points of view are welcome, but abusive posts "

This is my reply to the moderator.

"Um, bullshit is bullshit. Even politely framed bullshit is still bullshit. If you want to have a board where no one calls bullshit on the moron who peak off then you need to promote this as one of your objectives. I have shown some of my work/resources. Others don't. I have also had others, who are wrong, throw ad homiens at me. I don't bother whining to the Admins as I'm confident in my facts and people reading those threads can judge for themselves.

So my 'opposing point of view' is one based on evidence. I have no issues with there being a Tooth Fairy. Show evidence of him/her. If this hurts the frail feelings of some posters perhaps they shouldn't post bullshit on the forums until they can prove it? This would improve the value of the information posted here.

If you want to censor my points of view citing other peoples' hurt feelings, then you are adopting a position similar to hate speech. This cannot be a good thing. It is a slippery slope to full out censorship of opposing points of view. It is a rationization of censorship. Who are you to be able to say that A; that person is really hurt? Did they actually phone the Suicide help line? B; They are full of bullshit; Did you check their facts against mine? C; more people are researching the truth and not talking to you versus the whiners who are-whining? I am not sure how you could find out the truth about this one.

I understand why whiners whine. Imagine being told that you're wrong while you're trying to promote yourself as an expert? I mean two people on this forum seem to think that Vancouver Island will sink. Really? They show no proof. But because two people say it it must be true right? (I can't imagine the amount of drugs one has to take to have this fantasy. I still laugh at it and others at work thought ot hilarious.)

I see no need to keep this conversation private and as you have not stipulated that it should be kept private I will post it. Hopefully you are intelligent enough not to be manipulated by some immature people and will not start censoring anyone on this forum. Leave that to our government. (Well, not mine as I never voted for them actually. )

I'll send you my phone number if requested."

So here's the rub. Does this forum want to continue with a feel good policy or do we want to change to a peer review policy?

If we want to do the feel good thing; fine. It's certainly easier. It takes no research and won't help people out. Nor will you get a reputation for having a lot of good information on this forum and it will cease to become a valuable resource tool

If we decide NOT to go this route but to force each other to back claims with proof or evidence, the value of this information on this board will increase to it's members.

I see some serious problems with this though. Some of the current prolific posters will have to amend their positions to include factual ones. This is not in the style of some people. I don't see how anyone can apologize for thinking that the Island is going to sink. It's just not going to happen.

So a compromise is available. A 'peer reviewed section' Anyone can post anything, just expect a higher standard of criticism for your statements and proof or evidence may be required. This allows the people who like to learn things to find out valuable information in a place on this forum while serving the needs of other who have varying needs of valid information but a higher need for egocentric writtings. I think such a section would be a terrific resource. A self regulating community of Preppers who have high levels of research. Wow.
I suggest this be a separate section and the current, lower standards of evidence stand in the rest of the forum.

Or not. You choose. Your governments cencor, why should you not censor if it is provocative. Er, offends.

Hello there
I hope you are having a lovely day.

I think it is your method of "telling your facts". If your are true to scientific "facts" then you will know that most scientists can not even agree what is going to happen. They are knowable based theories only. Changing one part of a test to test a theory can change the out come, thus the "fact" first submitted is incorrect. Even historical "facts" have been known to change.

That being said, just because someone has a different theory does not make them wrong nor does it give a person the right to belittle them for their belief. I don't know why you get so upset when others opinions differ from yours and feel the need to slam them.

I think in this case the old saying "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" applies. Just state what you believe to be true, post links to support your "facts" and let people decide for themselves.

No one person knows everthing nor can they be "right" 100% of the time.

Actually, here is the warning in it's entirety...

All points of view are welcome, but abusive posts against different opinions are not welcome.

Please note the last line that you cut short...

"but abusive posts against different opinions are not welcome."

The warning was issued after numerous complaints about your attitude towards differing opinions, not your opinions themselves.
Your accusation of censorship is completely unwarranted...never were you asked not to post any of your ideas or theories, but rather to do so in a respectful way. So, to use your own words, I call BULLSHIT on the censorship accusation.

Please take note of this excerpt from the terms of use....
"You agree not to post any false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening,"

And by the way Oldschool, I am having a wonderful day and wish the same to you!

Thanks denob I am a bit of a Luddite with these computer thingies.

Now onto the Bullshit topic. I have, we all have, a right to say anything we want in amy many we want. In modern times we have eroded that pure right of free speech by saying Well it can't be hate language. Then anti-semantic material, and shortly anti government ideas. (They do such a good job...) So my original right is to say anything anyway I want. The more modern stance is "you can't day things which impinge on others feelings.

One is Free Speech, one is censoring. Take your pick.

Forums are like coffee shops, just a bunch of folks sitting around sharing their thoughts, politely, and if we're lucky, with humour.
I don't think anyone takes the information from a forum as gospel, pretty sure this isn't the kind of site that requires a peer review before publishing.

And here is my free speech in action...

It is my opinion that Monokotora strives for an audience. In one post, he brags openly about showing his arguments to workmates, thus supporting my opinion.

Here is the best way to deal with this egotistic, childish, narcissistic, self important simpleton who's only goal is to create controversy and chaos in an attempt to construct a sense of self worth...

IGNORE HIM

Once he realizes that no one wishes to further engage him in his games, he will simply disappear into oblivion where he belongs.

This forum has developed into a group of respectful and respected members who are proud to show the world that prepers are normal people; respected and respectable members of society, and not the stereotypical nutjobs that are to be shunned and dismissed, as Monokotora proves himself to be.

Thank you and have a great rest of the day.

As a personal piece of advice to Monokotora, you do raise several good points, but unfortunately, due to your lack of respect for others, no one will ever take you seriously. I suspect this will hold true for you in day to day life as well as on this forum. The sooner you learn how to properly interact with fellow human beings, the sooner life may get better for you.

Some typing lessons wouldn't hurt either.
