A funny weekend this weekend. Saw my beautiful daughter and my beautiful daughter in law. I brought them both a present. A Diva Cup. There are two different ones, so watch when you purchase. #1 and #2. It even comes with a freakin Diva pin to wear...... I wish I had a camera. The looks on their faces....... something similar to WTF is this...... you want me to do what with this lololol But in all seriousness, I need for them to try them out before SHTF just in case they can't be worn comfortably. Every women is different. That would be horrible for them. Ladies - at London drugs, approx 40$. Cuts down on TONS of feminine products. Just thought I would throw that out there for the ladies.

Clothing - for everyone coming to our retreat, i have one size larger fleece/winter items. Consists mostly of polar pj pants, zippered hoodies etc. Dollar stores for mitts, scarves, hats etc. Summer items since I can sew, I'm not spending money on. Most purchased at second hand stores and within that, some stores have special colour dot sales for that day. All clothing washed and dried very well, put into those vacuum storage bags that you suck down to nothing and stored in food grade barrels. This is the most fun for me, the frugal clothes shopping and creating new from old or refashioning clothes.

Great post, Grammaprepper. Paintergirl and I had been discussing shtf feminine hygiene issues (we both have adult daughters). The thought of hand washing flannelette pads was not appealing. I've heard about Diva cups, but don't know much about them, but will now go to London Drugs. (It sure helps to know where to go for them, thanks)

I have also been collecting extra mitts, scarves and toques (a fine canadian word, apparently the americans call them 'beanies'. 🙄 really?!) It's been on my mind to collect a couple extra pairs of boots and jeans for my son. (my daughter has enough jeans and footwear to last two apocalypses. 😆 )

I had heard about those diva cups...must look into those. I bought a huge wack of bulk dark washcloths for this, easy to launder and have a couple large packages of pads... This is where I don't relish 2 of us sharing the same issue but if we do that " moons and tides" thing, we should be dealing with it as the same time if we are under the same roof, it has happened that way before!
I dealt with cloth diapers for both of my kids, so laundering washcloths- what the heck! I have a mini bucket for pre-soaking.

Hi ladies, I love this thread. The one thing I have been thinking about is mascara. I know it isn't a survival item but it certainly would help as far boosting morale. I have looked for an alternative, but with little luck. Vanity you say, yes, but every little bit of comfort would help. I wouId trade chocolate for mascara. If anyone has suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Hello I didn't do it: well you've done it!! lolol kidding. hum mascara. I've been thinking on this since you posted it, and how about going to a salon that provides eyelashes. You can have permanent long lashes to fill what you already have and they can even do your brows and eyeliner. That way, you always look like you need to look and don't have to carry anything extra. Vanity didn't even come to mind. Us ladies are all different. If that is what you need to be happy, then do it!! We all need different items. If you promise to carry the chocolate, I'll carry the mascara and we will meet in the middle.

Too much testosterone maybe, because I loathe shopping, that's why I come here. People shop- talk- then I buy. I would never have thought about Grammaprepper's suggestion. Stick 'em on "Eyelashes". Grammaprepper you're great, I'd always trade my chocolate with you.

I use the Diva Cup and absolutely LOVE IT!! I am planning on buying an extra for myself to keep in my BOB and want to get one for my daughter. She doesn't need it yet but want to make sure it is here for when she does need it.

Thank you for sharing schreurs5. That's positive feedback for all the other women who will read this. Excellent you have one for your daughter also. Think of all the extra preps you can purchase instead of feminine products!!

I heard that some folks are starting to get the mascara "tattooed" on? Maybe that's an option for you... just pick a shade you really, really, REALLY like!

Ok, I had to google 'diva cups' to be sure my assumption was correct... read enough to know I should forward the link to the wife.

We were just talking about stocking up on contact lenses and few spare pairs of glasses for her and this only makes the same kind of sense. I'd say more sense, but she's blind without glasses.

I hope the other guys read this thread and take it seriously.

What about TSS being a risk? How can you wash them in the middle of nowhere if you are traveling? Do they need to be sterilized? I know the packages say way more often then websites. Would there be a infection risk? Another honest question do they not get errruhmmm messy when changeing them (*Come on seriously) Would you still not need a panty liner for any mess durring the changing
