I was talking to my own hubby about this, as I wanted feedback from the male view and he asked something that I think well worth bringing up.. he said that he saw this as a possable two way split, i'm summing up, and he said that he saw it in two ways, one if the men did in fact feel that they needed a spot to talk about men things- that was one thing.

However as I had pointed out that some of you had pointed out that ladies were welcome as long as they didn't mind the "rules" and he asked if what was really being asked for was a place for the men to be a little more rough in talk, and that it was being looked at as a place that would not have the same rules in regards to lang, content and politeness as the main board.

If that is indeed the case, then I would like to point out the fact that we are not allowing anything like that for the ladies group, point in fact, we tightened up the basic board rules and have made it very! clear that it will be a safe and supportive place and there will be no direct fighting or challanging allowed, very polite, supportive and constuctive advice or questions are welcome but the intent needs to come from a place of postive beginnings.

So let me put it out there, are you wanting a mens "garage" to talk about things that you feel the main board is not offering in sense of meeting a need for the men on the board currently, or are you looking for a place to have the rules loosen compared to the main board?

So husbands should not worry about their wife and her needs? If my wife were to pass I would like to know what to tell my daughter as she grows up. Forums are great for this since there are real women here that respond to questions when asked. Websites are slow to respond. I am glad my wife is a nurse and discusses her issues with me since her health is of my concern. I pick up feminine hygiene products when low and I know the brands. I know how to check for breast cancer and I want to learn more about the vagina. Oooooo I said vagina, commence school boy chuckle. Seriously ladies, talk about your gear and maybe it wont be a mystery and something to keep away from your men like it is some holy chalice. When topics like the moon cup came up I dont think anyone was disrespectful, in fact I talked to my wife about it since it came up in this forum. Everyone wants to know first aid and feels the need to know health related issues but when it comes to the penis and vagina areas they are off limits and should only be discussed by the gender of whom it concerns? This is so short sighted. Women bleed and men get erections so whats the big deal about talking about it openly with everyone?

Perhaps a hermaphrodite forum is needed since they may not know which one to join, or do they join both?

Seriously, thanks for posting that Gravlore. Everything you said is true and I think open discussion is important too.

This is in response to the 2 moderators who have asked questions and made statements regarding my idea.

Let me ask exactly WHAT ARE the parameters of the women’s forum? What specific topics are deemed to be unsuitable to be discussed in the regular forum? Is there any discussion taking place outside the bounds of those parameters? NOTHING was brought forward or discussed in the regular forum before the women’s forum was devised and no concerns were raised with the general membership. It was a back door deal from the beginning and hidden from the general membership until it was a finished deal. Many on here wish to discuss things that initially were considered a part of prepping or at least moderately relevant but that have since been removed from the list of “acceptable topics”.

First I will ask ..is your husband a member here? If he is perhaps he could state his own opinion. If he isn’t then it isn’t relevant in that a ‘male’ opinion isn’t required but more a male forum prepper member.
You say that he sees it as a possible 2 way split. You have already done that with the formation of a women’s only area. The moderators have ALREADY CAUSED a two way split. You say you have created an area where no “fighting or challenging will be allowed”. That is exactly what many of the men wish to have and that has been removed from the board.. An area where ideas can be challenged and heated discussion can take place. This IS the reality of life…not some warm fuzzy everyone is nice and ok place. That perhaps is a fundamental difference between women and men…that we are NOT afraid of confrontation and a little conflict.
I will also state that the forum has become drastically different from what it was last Fall. Before, it was a vibrant community…now it is a place where people mince their words and there are few active posters. Discussion and free thought is stifled. I found it interesting that on the site face page it says to “Join over 2000 Members across the Nation”.. referring to Canada, while on the board face page it lists membership at 1485. Then on the reply page to the email that was sent out asking for replies to verify the desire to maintain membership on Jan29,2013 the total number of replies was 242 before the topic was locked. 242 replies????? Does that mean there are now in reality only 242 real and active members?? Going back to my initial thought of having an area where the men can talk and share ideas and have a little confrontation and conflict and even “fight/argue” within reasonable bounds…. It may be something worth considering to try to maintain the membership that is here. I have no idea what the response to this post will be. Perhaps it will be as previously stated by one of the moderators….”Either get over it or move on.”

Well stated, but questioning is viewed as causing trouble. Go along to get along seems to be the mantra.

Through debate and comments that are not alike (Like WildE and I had in talking about water months ago *I received a ban and a spanking*) can people get different ideas of what they may need in prepping. FIRST we should be allowed to talk about WHY we prep even if it is considered 'conspiracy' by some. AFTER talking about these topics can we finally get on to the pressing matters on how to prepare for said topic. WE ARE stuck not being about to talk about whatever suits our fancy and until this is addressed I believe posts on anything prepper related will be at a minimum.

If getting a man area is needed to do this then I guess we should have that but then the rules for allowing women should be the same as the womens forum allowing men.

have noticed that some topics are still active in regards to finance and that is good but I thought if we were not talking about prepping we would have 1 warning and then a ban. Steering topics is one thing but dictating and censoring is quite another.

If nothing changes here, I hope some knowledgeable people in this forum can start a forum with the same format for those of us that have either left or are being held back. I will say it... This site has turned into complete crap and it shows by the lack of sharing. I know I can leave and go wherever I want and it seems many have taken that to heart, but there are many here that I enjoyed sharing with (yes many I disagreed with) and hope they come back. I doubt they will unless things go back to like they were in the fall (Like JAB said). Keep the forum OPEN and Tolerant of views and opinion would be my suggestion. NO more his and her forum. If we go down that path can I get a Whites only forum or a Christian only forum. Lets split this cow up until all that is left is ground beef!

I agree with alot of whats been said so far. I as well question why the women feel they need their own forum.

My wife never knew what deva cups were till i read it on this site (thanks ladies). Yes the wife could join up, and join your womens group, but unlikely to happen, (for a few reasons i wont mention) i tend to gather the info and bring it to her.

I as well have noticed that the forum is quieter than it used to be and i also find myself not checking in quite as often, lack of topics maybe? I do agree it was better the way it was before. Its funny to me that this is called a private place yet its run exactly like a public place " Ruin the needs of many to suit the needs of few!" Kinda the feeling i got anyways. It happens all the time, a few people cry and thats the end.

would hate to see JAB Or Gravs get booted for questions that are polite and informative. Whether you want to believe it or not, this Women's forum as well as Censorship along with comments in regards to what some consider conspiracy theories, has split this site into 3 camps with 3 directions.

If you create a Mens forum, then yes, no women allowed including Women MODs, which is easy to do since it will be by invitation on an individual basis. The other issue then becomes if you say we will get rid of the Womens forum, will it truly be gone or will it just be hidden from anyone whom does not have membership in that forum. This is also just a simple flip of a switch as it where in the forums setup.

Conspiracy theory is just that until proven True or False.
Sometimes they try to prove it false, put up red flags then 10 yrs later leaked documents turn the tides and it is proven True. - case in point poisoning the population with Flues, anthrax and other bio warefare germs in the Case of New York, New Jersey and Chicago.
OR.. how about taking Soldiers and giving them Hallusinagenic drugs or sycosis drugs, total bs right! that is what they stated for years, leaked documents show that they did just that. The US Gov along with the US Military and Canadian Military did experiments on soldiers without their knowledge or cooperation. Just line up for needle parade, and voila, instant mood and mind altering events. They were deemed crackpots and booted from the military, both US and Canadians, years later no recourse proven, true!
There were 7-10 such incidents proven True in the last few years, so Conspiracy Theory for a number of years to, O My Lord, how can this be true!!!

There have also been people booted for no apparent reason in the last while, some just posted that they had spent bullet casings for sale, the thread was moved and now deleted as well as the publisher of the topic. I saw it, was chatting with another prepper, looked for the topic, gone, as well as the poster. That is just one instance

This is not the knitting forum, or the Homesteaders forum, it is the Prepper's forum. Prepper was a term coined by some long standing Survivalists to be used for media purposes.
Survivalist - Prepper - same thing, Self Reliant, Self Resilience and Grow your own food and become self reliant like a Homesteader should be the end game, not just stocking up 1-2 yrs worth of food. Thinking your gonna sit around the fire and sing cumbyya.. in the face of the Zombie/Golden Horde (note, to me they are the same thing) well good luck with that. Thinking you and your church will hand out some soup and they will just pass you by, good luck with that.

If there is a total collapse, you will need all knowledge and the people who will stand there, in front and behind with confidence. People who might say the odd rude word, big deal! When they get to total attacking each other at this stage, warnings then boot afterwards, when someone who just joined, some Johnny come lately, a troll, someone who refers to others who has been here for a while as the High Priests and Priestesses, should be watch, warned and if they keep it up, other measures. But.. even they should be warned first, not just booted. Might also want to take into account Language barriers while your at it.

Delete the Womens only forum for good, public and private views
Do not create Mens forum, unless Womens forum stays
Ease up on the restrictions, this is not the knitting forum, ideas and thoughts should flow and be natural, not guarded and held in reserve in case it might offend some Johnny come lately or some delicate that has been here for a while.

I believe in Self Censorship, you don't like it, don't read it or don't comment, move along and change the channel !

So I have a question if I have a topic I need to bring up to other guys but not woman because I won't say what that is. a mans area isn't possible because its not known even though it could embarrass me or make me feel uncomfortable. But isn't that the same purpose as a woman's one I think one should be done for the guys not to chew the fat but there's alot of questions that I've wanted to ask but just are hard to bring up like for woman some topics don't need to be talked about with men out of respect. Sorry just don't think you should do one without the other guys have stuff they only talk about with other guys just like woman do. But in the grand scheme of things when the shtf the last thing well be worried about is share time and feeling.

Not valid anymore.

After a long discussion with all the moderators, we have decided to open a men's section.
This will be an area for men to discuss men's issues, in regards to prepping, that they may not feel comfortable discussing in the main forum, which is not only readable by all members, but also by guests and bots.
It should be noted though, that the same rules and code of conduct that apply to the rest of the board, will be in effect.
To join this section, you must apply to become a member of the Men Preppers group in your user control panel.
Once you have been approved by the group leader, ICRCC, you will have access to the section.
The section is located on the index page, just under the Women Preppers section (ladies first, after all).

There has been a lot of discontent on the board lately.
The moderators have worked hard to find solutions to all the issues that we hope will be acceptable to ALL members.
Keep an eye out for more announcements soon.
Thank you all for your input, as it is that input that makes this board work.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time and made the effort to make this happen, especially the Moderators who have put what I am sure is a lot of time and effort into it. I know that at times there will be discontent and conflict but having said that, it is inevitable in a family that is a dynamic and growing entity. It is the mature and respectful discussion and resolution of conflict that allows growth and a continued development of communication and the sense of family that I know we are all striving to share here. There are no winners and no losers. The forum wins by providing a place where each knows they will be heard, respected and, within reason, accomodated.
