Listen to the sound of one hand clapping!
An opening line to the following interview. this is a calm discussion of today's Cold War...it think it is worth a listen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdCcR8pEm3g
-The Young Turks: Interview with Stephen Cohen(Prof. of Russian Studies at NYU): a great interview with many insights as to this new Cold War. He mentions @ 12:20 that Putin states they cannot retreat and this is our warning. This whole interview recites an honest play by play of how we got to this present point, both sides guilty of interference, just that Russia has had no options though in their part of this and that too rings true.
His next advice is to not read the news, but to watch it instead on the web! This is because the mainstream media can no longer be trusted. He also then mentions too that there are indeed alot of misinformed people giving advice so to be careful whom you listen to on the web ...seems they must have taken my advice here...
@ time 21:21 he shows that Crimea is not really the issue either. This leads into the original purpose of NATO and what it is today and how this is what is threatening the world today.
Now you can see that the Turk has more of the American attitude of protectionism, but he is respectful and willing to listen, just the same. An informative interview indeed.

- RT News: Congress demands Obama send US weapons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0q7zIfjOB8
note how the news always plays that Obama is the one holding back the might of the US? Thanks God he has a level head is what we should be thinking as he states that Putin has back approach. Thus this continued push for dominance is to be seen as a peaceful solution to all of this?
- South Front: they point out Orwell's "Ministry of Truth" was formed in Ukraine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR-qw3FjmEc&spfreload=10
this follows a sci-fi plot in the book 1984 where this ministry's job it is responsible for any necessary falsification of historical events. This refers to them already rewriting the history lessons they will teach.
- Ukraine Today: Ukraine receives another 500 million Euros from the EU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYZdjCGZL2
they admit this comes immediately after allowing foreigners into their parliament
- Russia/Ukraine: this new propaganda outfit takes footage and posts their own spin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yk-n3LOBKM
these guys flash an NBC logo at the start. Their footage is usually just a repost of others with misleading data. On another they claim obvious UN soldiers (blue berets, UN cap badges) are Russians when you can see they are with the UA soldiers.
I post this last link to show how such work so those cruising can better know the players when cruising the web. Seems they pretend to be pro-Russian to mislead viewers. There are others like this with whom I have sort thru their content daily. Some even have footage I'd like to present but the titles would confuse viewers and likely create argument if shown. I mention such as this as I have to ask myself daily if my choices of what I present then portray too much censorship on my behalf. It is an easy line to cross and a hard one to sometimes see.....
- Press TV: shows UA prisoners being forced to sing Russian song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQHjKiruFew
hard not to notice that each soldier bears marks of being beaten. Seems the rebels are becoming more aggressive as their enemy is. yet to record such things and post it for the world fuels hatred towards them even though the UA has been doing far worse for some time.

- Sound off: cadence call comparisons of the US and Ukraine Army : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkvAkQgJpAY
the creator of this video is trying to show the US influence in Ukrainian military. This couldn't be shown as true unless you had prior footage showing their cadence calls before the coup.
- Euro News: McCain's comments strain US-Hungary relations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMWnd_8lXKs
It's the pot calling the kettle black routine...he calls Putin a neo-fascist when they are the ones backing fascism.
- Ukraine Today: Inner Ukraine city protest blamed on Russia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sl8vopkqR0
note at the end that they state no Russian provocateurs will escape justice. Is this not just a way of warning all not to clash with their present government.
- War In Ukraine: interview with another pro-Russian leader https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-1nuP_iRDc
his arguments that the lack of proof of Russian soldiers in Ukraine is excellent as he points out that all prisoner exchanges require passport IDs and none have ever been Russian yet. And to call them terrorists means that Donetsk has 4.5 million terrorists.
- Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern gives German interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ2ZenOV5qg
Ray points out the previous agreements that the US made with Russia and the deal breaking that the US continually commits. He explains the whole process of NATO advancement upon Russia. Ray points out that much of this evidence collected against the US is that which WikiLeaks has shown the world. German reporter states that this is a crime against peace.... so true!
- he calls Putin a neo-fascist when they are the ones backing fascism.
Do you even know what fascism is?
- he calls Putin a neo-fascist when they are the ones backing fascism.
Do you even know what fascism is?
Yes, I have even used Wikipedia's definition here in this forum in the past. So maybe to avoid repetition, how about I use Webster's this time?
Fas-cism: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
So, which part shall we challenge on this aspect? Whether Ukraine now has all the makings of a fascist society or if Canada and the US fall into this category too? If you have followed this thread, you can see so many mentions of incidents with proof included (as this is how I roll here), to show this path we are all being led down.
This is the purpose of our media today in our governments eyes. It seems our daily news has just become a tool to convince the public that our government is just when making decisions for you. The only thing left now is the perception that we still have this ability to choose.
- Is it proper that the leaders can veto the decisions of their Parliament? Hitler and Stalin had that... Poroshenko does. Obama does. Putin doesn't.
- Is it right that we have passed bills in our own parliament which allow our government the power to read your mail and record conversations for a years term on ALL it's population? Freedom of speech is becoming a thing of the past as you just have to turn on your TV to verify this.
- what are our motives for interfering with another countries policies anyway? Does this really promote "freedom of speech" for those people or just cause division? Are we maybe doing it for other reasons instead?
- maybe we should let foreigners have seats in our parliament too as we back the US doing so to Ukraine and this too is being promoted by our media
- are we not aiding Ukraine in the suppression of opposition as they continually try to annihilate those in the west?
- why do we not mention in our Canadian news that the banning of the Russian language was the major issue legislated by the west upon the east? This action immediately made the west superior in status and understandably provoked a civil war. Is not equality in the the definition of democracy?
Definition of Democracy:
1. government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.
2. a state having such a form of government: The United States and Canada are democracies.
3. a state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges.
4. political or social equality; democratic spirit.
5. the common people of a community as distinguished from any privileged class; the common people with respect to their political power.
The Canadian Way
Now I found this article from the Globe & mail stating Canada's messy way of going to war. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-debate/canadas-messy-way-of-going-to-war/article21002764/ It at least explains the division we have in our political parties stand on such an issue. The main point though is that we are divided and this war of Ukraine is about as legitimate as the one in Iraq, Libya, and others.
The deciding factor over which side our parties choose is often based on the intel given by the ruling government. This then allows them to opt for the twisted lies when the truth is so obvious to see as shown by the daily examples I present here. Imagine how much easier it would be to accept this visual proof if not for the continuous bombardment of false propaganda our news feeds us daily to at least give you doubt . Even though their version is a harder pill to swallow, they play it continually until your subconscious simply accepts it as truth.
We know all know that Russia has been backed into a corner. We all know that things could go really wrong if we continue to poke the bear....but do we stop? It also mentions (in order) that we are strongly influenced by the decisions of Britain and the US. The author gives us hints as to our history in politics and even to our government's present agenda. I'm sure that he would later suggest that we get in the fight as our leader's want, but in reality, you must ask yourself then why does he leave the reader hanging? This action is a suggestion that the author's personal opinion that Canada should not participate in this action of war but if he stated so, this article would likely then go unpublished... do you see this in the same manner?
Why is the article left open otherwise? Is freedom of speech getting harder to publish in Canada too?
- he calls Putin a neo-fascist when they are the ones backing fascism.
Do you even know what fascism is?
How about Some More on Fascism?
If you go to my new post on the downing on MH17, you can read more articles that also show fear of censorship http://internationalpreppersnetwork.net/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=5097&start=30
Does Canada or the US protest the new restrictions placed upon reporters by the Ukraine government? Of course not, this is the same limitations the US put upon reporters during the Iraq war. We also knew it was wrong then too! This might make some viewers here happy though as I likely won't have much to work with very soon at all. Who knows, you might be able to swallow the CNN spiels someday without vomiting!
- Journalists discuss how the new restrictions imposed by Ukraine will prevent world news agencies the ability to collect their own news of this war. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-4cz3Y2f9M
They claim it will make east Ukraine become the black hole of information.
- another link showing the new recruits that the Ukraine army has drafted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z6wGAI8H9Y
Note the lack of the word "Volunteers", lack of any discipline, people carrying plywood guns, and mention that they never thought it could come to this!
So are these the actions of a fascist society? Are they not dictating to the people the rules set by leader who allows no opposition? And yet then why is it that a democratic society imposes such actions upon a country that wishes to join their club? Do they believe that this is just required to pass the initiation into democracy? Or are our leaders capitalizing upon the greed of corrupt puppet politicians they helped put into power?
So which News do You Trust?[/b]
Now I'm sure that most don't believe all that CNN says, but their 24 hr a day looped broadcasts are convenient for the majority who want the news when they turn to it. Unknowing to the listener though, this repetition in hearing the same thing over and over has the ability to make your subconscious better accept this this story as if all aspects are therefore true, even if they are far fetched... Many books on psychology will mention this point with the discrepancies only on the number of times it takes to convince the listener. All will agree that it is between 5 - 20 times though, depending on the size of the lie and other such factors. That said, the viewer must then make note to challenge the story put forth at the very start, before they hear this same news repeated too many times. A good method to maintaining an unbiased opinion is to get the major story from such as CNN, and then seek opposing views to get a better angle on the overall picture of this event. The opposing view cannot come from a party with the same alliances as the first or they will influence your openness into that of a more biased approach.
Now it seems there was a pissing contest that occurred a month or so ago as a 2nd between RT News and CNN. While RT News now has the title for being the largest news agency in the world, CNN still holds the title for North America. Both continually accuse the other of being biased, but CNN seems to always start the ball rolling. Why? For the ratings of course!
So here is the last conflict. You must remember that CNN staged this and then only shows their side of this story....
- CNN News: CNN sets the stage with loaded questions to give Russia a black eye in public opinion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cCS6J6Jv3w
seems CNN interviewed an RT reporter and showed specific parts only to apply a misleading aspect to RT News. So now here is RT's uncut version to show you the whole story to set you straight.
- RT News: CNN's uncut interview with an RT reporter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1SUQ1qtdb0
I show the clash of two major news agencies to present the political aspects involved in any government backed news outlet. At least RT admits openly that they are indeed government backed. Then they go on to show how they try to become known as trustworthy throughout the world, but admits that there is always a better slant given for their backers. Honesty is still better than lies and this admission alone should earn more trust than the continuous deceitful obvious intentions of CNN... but I'm sure most of you have worked this bit out anyways.
RT's approach is to convince you of the truth by not leaving anything out. It seems they were ready for this debate to get twisted and so they took measures such as filming the interview too. Then they made sure the the viewer could see that they never cut and edited it by not switching cameras at all. So which one do you now believe? One never forgets that RT is Russian backed, but they seem to work hard at proving that they more honest than many other agencies these days. To not put a Russian spin on many things, they instead seem to act as if Russia is not part of the picture and instead focus on what facts can be presented
as to suggest this non involvement. Still inaccurate in some ways, but at least it keeps them from having to lie to the viewers.
I can listen to BS all day....until I know that it is BS that is.....!
What Else?
- South front: seems Germany and others want dialogue with Russia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCgCWisUApU
Many have feared Germany might go over to Russia's side. These sanctions are forcing them to convert even more. Starting a war on their doorstep likely has a fear factor involved too.
- South Front: Ukraine shelled various cities over the weekend killing 5more civilians.
- Canada backs Ukraine's new defense plan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKdkozYpDNY
again the wording is carefully done as it doesn't explain if we are going beyond the non-lethal aspect... but quietly suggests it
Knowing the News Poster's side:
My intention below is to show you how I make some of the decisions of what I post in this forum. This again follows the principle that I could listen to BS all day if I don't know it's BS. But once I can see a lie, I measure every word thereafter as it too might be a lie!
- South Front: world news involving Ukraine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFJOzKikKnE
(not hard to tell which side this outfit is on....no trickery, just their prespective.)
explains the trade with Australian coal and Uranium. Also the effects sanctions have on Russia vs rest of Europe in the 2015 world report.
- Wochit News: good neutral news but few postings on Ukraine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dBbOi4IX5U
- Ukraine War: floods YouTube with old footage for false propaganda https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jazc15VEeRI
shows old footage as note the lack of snow while using todays date
- Press TV: This poster tries to convince you he is neutral but things like this title say different https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMxpYb3D260
It suggests that the UA are retaliating when in truth they are the aggressors. What would they retaliate for?
- Ukraine News Today: this poster always takes other's footage and portrays it as the Russians are coming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKAmfIzhJsw&feature=youtu.be
I don't use his stuff as it misleads people without sufficient proof as to whose armaments are where as shown in the above link.
- Donbass News: (same outfit as South Front) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82_GWxNvgKA
state Russia invited to help find a compromise to this conflict. @1:05 Ukraine to crack down on any anti-Ukrainian media with the excuse they must be Russian funded..(no opposition smells like fascism to me). @1:30 they mention the CIA torture camps and even criticize Russia for taking bribes too.
Now in Russia's defense, we might consider that these actions were likely under a previous leader as the US uses this same excuse below...
When you can show Both sides of an Argument
- Ukraine Today: the UA angle on the Donetsk airport standoff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxgZxqioQ-M
They proclaim that they still hold the airport but as the rebels say, why then do they then continue to shell it? They hold maybe a small section only but cannot setup to shell Donetsk as before. And why if they are the good guys, do they always continue to cover their faces? Are they afraid they'll be later prosecuted for their present actions?
It is easy to see which side they are on as this is their official site. Ukraine Today tries to portray they are the official news and completely side the US agenda as the following clip shows them performing the "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" concept as they try to downplay the US's latest torture reports. How to put a good spin on something so bad.....
- Donbass News: they discuss the present peace talks coming up but @ time 1:20 also give their take on the US torture tactics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FDxvbABSh4
US passes Bill for Lethal Aid
- Ukraine Today: US Senate passes bill to supply lethal aid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSXMcBaa0vg
This bill is pretty much a declaration of war in Russia's mind. It proposes that Moldova and Georgia be included too though they are not a part of Russia.
- Press TV: discusses the above bill and it's affects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cASvQtLXf0w
They point out that this now allows the US to place military expansion along borders surrounding Russia prior to NATO's doing such things.
- US media spokeswoman Q & A on the new US legislation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH3r4SPnWe4
of course the US try to suggest it is business as usual and that they have no new plans at this time
- Reuters: Rebels accuse rebels from violating Day of Silence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS0dUs1lFbw
a Ukrainian slant blaming the rebels for firing upon the Donetsk airport. I did note that the strike they showed seems to be at the region last held by rebels.
- seems the rebels are indeed trying to retake the airport https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOdN4XITgJg
Maybe this is a good time to remind viewers that the UA wants to recapture this strategic location to again shell Donetsk from as they did for months before the rebels took it back.
The Closing of Doors
I can already see that things are changing in the news I can find on the web. The official news is already influenced by Ukraine's new ruling that all reporters must go thru them to even have a presence in their region. There are far less postings from pro-Russian backers while others are now flooding the web with propaganda that Russia is either attacking or preparing for war. These doom and gloom postings will escalate the beliefs that Russia is acting aggressively when no official sites show mention any such things. There are so many "no-name" postings with old footage used to convince the viewer that events have just escalated drastically. Here's a nice example and as you watch, note the influence it has upon you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKMgMeJeOIk . Just do a search of Ukraine in YouTube with today restrictions to see what I mean.
Is this the new tactics being applied to convince us that NATO must do something? Since they can't control all the news that leaks thru to us over the web, is the new plan instead to make it impossible for the "average Joe" to separate the lies from the truths? Since I have been continually watching these videos daily, it makes it easier to spot old videos being played as new. What about those who have just tuned in? How will they be able to surf thru this flood of footage and find the facts over fiction?
The media is definitely the tool of today to convince the masses that their side is just. And the last vestiges of untampered sources of news are being countered by those who control all that we see and hear. Soon we will only see and hear only that which they want us to as they legislate all our freedoms away. You can see the doors closing ans see that some reporters do what little they can to protest the coming changes.
Seems there are still topics to write on yet before this new trick can work it's magic...
- Press TV: death toll crosses 4600 in the east https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw_JZ1gLhwg
covers how donations made to Ukraine are not going to the east. Also how banks and other systems are not accessible to them and how Russia is the only country trying to fix such issues.
- RT News: Kiev's Svobota party threatens to use nuclear weapons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HJbuZQ1FS8
shows the US doesn't react to Ukraine's threat at all when it fears everyone else might have such options
Fighting for a Cause:
Does it make a difference to those soldiers fighting in battle, if they believe in the cause that you are fighting for?
Consider the situations of those soldiers of the UA who are conscripted and thus forced to fight for something they likely are not willing to die for. They fight only because they still need to feed their family and know too they wish to live to see them again soon. Their families are in no immediate danger and other than Daddy is missing, life goes on as normal.
- Europa News: watch the UA in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7isCSFEW1Dc
When I watch the UA army, it's like they are just playing around. They always seem to not really fear being shot at while they are firing. Does this mean that they are firing for effect only? We are never shown what they are shooting at or any successes either. @ time 2:07, this video finally shows someone shooting back. This is a first for the UA videos in all this time.
The UA has all the toys with all the bells and whistles. They wear the body armour while riding in or hiding behind bullet proof vehicles. They shell from great distances at targets with drone guidance for corrections. They outnumber and out kill their enemy daily due to these advantages. This is also why they have far fewer casualties compared to the pro-Russians.
- Europa News: now this shows some success of the UA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixd-wltJ93k
Yet with all of these advantages, why then have they not won this conflict already? Do you not think that when the soldiers go into towns that they literally flattened with their artillery and see the devastation caused to civilian life that their morale is lowered? Would the win then seem as worthy a victory?
Now their enemy seems to have even maintained a humane perspective to all this slaughter which likely further destroys their morale as they know the UA have lost much of their humanity along the way. I'm sure that even shame has entered the picture for many of UA soldiers as they realize how far they have fallen. Many therefore likely aim to miss when firing as any killing will ensure your participating in that which your conscious despises.
It is this aspect that makes armies lose and often explains how well equipped armies can still fail. Many have heard of stories told where soldiers are seen crying as they do battle and if you maybe ponder on just how such things might occur... I'm betting this is often why.
The prisoner exchange numbers in Ukraine were often withheld or buried so that many never knew the facts. http://rt.com/news/187120-ukraine-militias-prisoner-exchange/ This article shows that at first, 1,200 soldiers were returned to Ukraine while they complained that another 1,000 were unaccounted for. No mention that many defected to Russia as they didn't want to fight their countrymen. Also no numbers are recorded as to pro-Russian prisoner number, but they were nowhere near these figures. These figures do again seem to backup the stories of UA soldiers surrendering and handing over their equipment to the east though.
Being the "Good Guy"
- War in Ukraine: Now here's the rebels shooting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvG05pzta0w
They appear far more fearful of being shot as they stay low, hide behind or take cover otherwise. They show bullet holes and flat tires on the truck. Somehow they don't look as if they are just playing do they? This appears to be in more of a daily routine that they are performing what seems pre-programmed actions as they advance.
- War in Ukraine: reporter follows rebel soldiers in this daily routine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54TG0F_eeJ4
note that these guys have no tanks or APC's, just a car to harass the enemy with. They are indeed fired upon and stay calm as this too then seems routine. They've turned off the cell phones so they can't lock in on them as a target. They laugh off their daily near death experience as only a veteran fighter can.
Remember how the media always tells us that Russia is behind all this? Yet after all this time, they still can never produce any proof to back this claim even once to date. I have continually shown how these people in the east seem to have created their own army with confiscated weapons and shown the important fact that this region is Ukraine's weapons manufacturer anyways. Making war with the east seems to have always had a measure of risk due to this major fact. So much so that west Ukraine felt it had to ask the EU countries for more military equipment to fight the east with. Yet we can see that they still have far more than should be required to get the job done.
When comparing the funding behind the west and noting too all the other advantages this allows them, it seems the adage that "you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink often comes to mind"! They may have the advantage but it seems many don't have the heart to win as their conscious still seems to prevent such from being fulfilled.
Seems censorship is limiting my choices to working with what we provide only.
NATO's Public Address
- NATO: another NATO speech for the masses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_kvA_jBkDQ
The following points are addressing comments made by the NATO speaker.
1. Mentions Russia continues to destabilize Ukraine ... how, when? Again, never any specifics.
2. States Ukraine PM has shown a desire to find a peaceful solution to this conflict... isn't this the guy who wants immediate war with Russia?
3. NATO supports Ukraine's territorial integrity...I'd say NATO means we'll even get you Crimea back.
4. NATO believes in the Minsk agreement - here are the terms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minsk_Protocol
(i) 1st Item: seems they never even tried to stop the fighting as the shelling continues daily... and this shelling is what the rebels then in turn respond to. This point alone seems to make point #2 a total lie.
Why not take a minute to see the points in this agreement and note which ones NATO has followed thru on.... this is just a smoke screen! Then walk down how many Russia has broken as they claim ...but only count specifics with proof of such. This narrows things down to zero by my count.
5. a sovereign Ukraine is the key to security - this means the completion of the missile defense system which tips the balance of power to NATO and ends the Cold War. NATO will then have full control of all of Russia too as Russia can no longer opt for mutual destruction
The one point that NATO is never mentioning aloud yet it provides the justification for all sanctions is Russia having to give back Crimea. They know this will not happen as it would be a major hole in their military and this denial will eventually be NATO's reason to impose all-out war as a final solution. The wording of "continued aggression" is always carefully presented in such a way to allow for such a conclusion with this reasoning and has been done so often that this cannot be an unintentional act. I'd say "The writing is on the wall"!
Other Daily News In Question
- Ukraine Today: figures show 917 UA soldiers dead, 3,300 wounded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRfXDZs2lPo
Is this admission true or now their new excuse to better account for all their MIA's. seems these numbers are quite high when they can't even provide wounded men in their hospitals while doing a documentary on the topic. Yet the rebels seem to have tons of footage showing piles of dead and injured daily thoughout this conflict.
- Ukraine Today: here the UN counts say 4,700 people in the east have been killed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JreLW0KfKE0
They never mention that some of this total is UA soldiers and neither does anyone else. The previous number was over 4,000 though they don't jive, I'm sure that all will pretend they do. Did you also note that they are patching a punctured gas pipe with just Scotch tape?
- RT News: US citizen shot in Ukraine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA5IjCNeO2c
while attending a lecture on the national debt of Ukraine. He says people should not to give money to Ukraine as gangsters operate here.
- Former Canadian diplomat states NATO is US stooge in Ukraine: seems more of our own people of position are standing up to share their knowledge on the stage setting that has lead us to Russia's front door.
- Ukraine Today: Ukraine's add for promotion of student recruits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxuNdmaj30Q
Ukraine is now trying to put a positive spin on the conscription of students(reminds me of the old propaganda films of Hitler youth for some reason)... they get to play with guns in school for a day or two and so feel they are ready for battle. Note how they state the students get to participate in the anti-terrorist training? Are these students not smart enough to sort out that since those in the east are not attacking them , it is therefore them that should be considered the terrorists instead?
My kind of people, no panic just get some tape and fix it up, wish I had more neibours like that. Can you imagine that here...people would be running out of thier house, screaming, yelling....and thats the men..
actually its reasonably safe the gas is at a few psi....no big deal...( i used vise grips once to cap a line I cut until I could get a double barbed fitting) it will hold until they get another piece of pipe. The gas lines are run above ground...sounds strange but it works...just odd seeing a gas line run along a sidewalk then it pops up into the air 12 feet when it comes to a drive way, goes across the drive way, drops down to the ground and carries on..
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.

Seems I can't seal even a 5 psi air leak with electrical tape or even duct tape. Are you sure that gas is a low psi? Seems a scary way to find out it leaks, but the dudue did show up with a service truck and all....must be better tape than it looks to be! Seems that putting the line so obvious would make it too easy for damaging and tapping into illegally.
No not sure, just my limited experience with gas, and yes they get damaged easly and often run on the surface like that, and just imagine all the threaded fittings that are needed to run that line down a street, up over driveways and such, leaks , leaks and more leaks. You wont see that in big cities, but on the outskirts yes, and small town and villages. If you think thats bad, you should see some of the water heaters in the flats from soviet times, you first open the water tap to the bath tub then turn on the gas and light the burner....you dont want to forget to have the tap open ...

Youv'e peeked my interest with that one. You have to turn on the water first as a precaution so they don't heat empty pipes? Is this the reasoning? You must mean those tiny water heaters that they have above the tub, right? Not a floor standing unit as we use here?
incoming water line comes into the kitchen then to the bathroom (usually), Heaters (if you were lucky enough to have one)were mostly in the kitchen and you lit the burner usually mounted near the kitchen sink. Now the water heaters were just a burner under a copper coil that the incoming water flowed through, some had no adjustment for the flame you just controled the temp by how far you opened the tap up...low flow hot water, high flow warm water. Fine if you are in the kitchen... beside the sink when you light it, but imagine you are going to have a bath or shower before bed, if you light the burner in the kitchen if you arnt fast enough, or something distracts you before you get to the bathroom to open the water tap...well its a closed system...the burner is heating the water in the pipe....it very quickly will turn to steam...no pressure relief valves...get the picture, if you were lucky you would hear a little poping in the pipes reminding you to open the valve....you would have to be fast at this point, very fast.
Now that was soviet design...economy of parts...likely none built like that in 20 years, but still lots in service. nothing wears out, only operator error destroys them. operator error usually in combination with vodka.
