New guy here mainly to be a lurker. Not too fond of the way things are looking for the average joe. Fist to cuffs over masks, Vaccinating passports, Governmental overreach into firearms. :geek: 🙄
Hello Jim, I dont know what you mean by " Fist to cuffs over masks", I wear a mask everywhere I go and have not encountered a problem, no one beats me up, it seem a non issue. I dont know anything about the Vaccinating passports you speak of though since passports are used for international travel, and I myself have traveled internationally often, more so in my younger days, I do know some countries did require proof of vacination for somethings, in fact I know many countries do, and if you have a pet (I travelled with my dog once internationally) I had to provide proof of vaccinations for him, no problem really, just a few dollars for the vet to issue a hard copy of his records ( I keep my dogs up on all shots). This seems to be nothing new?

Ex- military did my fair share of travel too. Lets see the fist to cuffs , assault on a shopper who recommend a mask to someone and a row ensued. Vax passport for in country use, me I'm not travelling anywhere . It's the thought that the government just rolls it out and deems it safe. Sorry for sounding anti-vax or tinfoil hat type but let's see. Agent Orange tests on other soldiers, I've been possibly contaminated Gama-goblin , massively overloaded with Mefliquine, been forced to live in PCB laden sandbagged shelters, been required to wear permethrine soaked combats 😮 . All declared supposedly safe by the government .I'm sorry I feel a little bemused by the "instant " 100% safe no need for liability injection .

Lots of stuff has been declared safe, then whoops we messed up. Well the government nore the maker are allowing liability for this.

Well, no matter what brought you here, welcome.
So let's explore HOW you plan to prepare for those reasons.

Jim I am so with you on this. I had heard of the odd encounter where someone went violent when asked to where a mask. This speaks to the individuals unstability, its a mental health issue really, because a person could wear a face shield in place of a mask if they wished, but some nut tards are just looking for attention, even negative attention. Such people will always exist, always have. Good news is they are few, often getting what they deserve.
I too question the vaccine rushed into service, So much faster than any other. I in no way would I trust anything coming out of USA approvals ( a theocratic state) . More so vaccines coming from other nations, Britten , maybe Russia (science is valued there) I am not, like you, a tin foil hat guy, but I would like more time before I go and get a shot for myself. Good news is we will get such time. I dont think general aprovale for average joes like us will come until mid next year. Nurses, care workers, doctors are taking point in getting this for us first They take the risk and we will find out its effects. Much as it should be..

I'm using proper precautions. A real N95 mask stocked up years ago due to work, worn. Gloves worn alcohol rinsed prior to removal . Lots of wiping down. shopping at 8 am to minimize people . The usual stuff, as a ret. divorced bachelor vet, rarely interact with humans, face to face.
Now we are seeing Gen2 Bat flu ramp ups tier 4 lockdown in the UK with it being stated at 70% easier to spread. The vax they made for CV19 gen 1 isn't effective vs gen 2. Yes I'm taking precautions but not believing the governments lines.

I would love to see the research on the vaccine being tested against the new strain of the virus. To my knowledge it hasn't been tested on it yet.
Hello all. New member here coming from Northeastern Ontario. New to prepping and wanting to learn as much as I can. In these uncertain times I worry for my family. So I think its integral to start a good network of like minded people for the times ahead. Thanks and have a good one.

Hello from a newbie prepper in southern Qc!
Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I'm relatively new to prepping but have been immersing myself in it lately with all that's going on. I am a single female in the mid 40s that was raised on a working farm so I've got some knowledge about general animal husbandry, bee-keeping, gardening and some winter-survival skills since the ice-storm of '98 when we had to go 3 weeks without electricity in the middle of winter. From then on, I kinda knew prepping was in my blood, but now, I finally feel free-enough to follow that passion. Thanks for allowing me to join!
Welcome aboard CrystalPistol!
I think the Ice Storm was certainly an epiphany for many who later became significantly more resilient and prepared.
Looking forward to reading about your own experiences as you also discover the posts on this forum.
Welcome CrystalPistol.
I'm also in Qc and yeah, the ice storm of 98 was the beginning of preparedness for me also.
Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences.

Except for getting a "ghetto-blaster" when I was a teen, I've never been so excited about a radio!
My dynamo emergency radio was delivered yesterday and I'm really surprised to be feeling less anxious about things.
Knowing that I can at least try to connect to the outside world if SHTF has been a bigger relief than I thought it would be -I don't even have a water supply yet (which seems to be the most important thing for survival), but knowing that I can tune-in and hopefully hear where supplies might be offered, I think speaks more to my optimism than being a survivalist? 😉 Nevertheless, I got really into this new tool so that I'll know how to use it when/if the time comes. It's had it's initial 24-hr charge, I've programed all the closest stations (including the American stations within range), and even made a little case that keeps it all together.
So my question to the panel is this: I think water storage is definitely next but perhaps I'm missing something more important? Alternative heat source is the fire-place so perhaps saving up for a generator to save food from spoiling is more important? The pump on the well is also electric so maybe saving access to well water is the priority? I've been seeing some really nice solar-panel generators but they're pricey - seems worth it given it wouldn't need fuel and would run much quieter than a regular generator. Maybe I should buy a regular generator for now while the price of the new technology comes down? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You have very good questions here CrystalPistol. There is a “resident smart guy” when it comes to generator/solar stuff: PepperCorn. I’m sure you will get a good perspective from him.
What I would suggest is to move your questions to the different sub-forums pertaining to each categories (water, food, general preparedness...). That way material is categorized for easier reference. This also keeps the members’ intro thread tidier.
Reading myself, I think I’m letting the group know I have OCD 😎
