With one month to go, Its time for a reminder of the Nova Scotia North- Truro Meet up. The Date once again is Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 1 PM.
The location is CoCo Community Caffe. 535 Prince Street.
As a Bonus, I have aranged for a further afield prepper that will be driving in for 5 hours to give a short talk and round table discussion on Antibiotics, thier use and how to get them. Make sure you thank him profusely
Please bring with you a bunch of your favotite books on prepping, farming, storing or permacultue, to discuss and show off so others can look through them and decide if they want to track down those titles. Thats actually how you can know each other. Look for the people with a bunch of books. No secret handshakes and trench coats required, LOL. The event is very public and informal. A chance to meet new friends.
This location is a buisness so make sure you purchase coffee or snacks to leave a good impression for next time. To keep any social awkwardness down, feel free to refer to the meetup as a SELF SUFFICIENTCY or HOMESTEADING group.
In true prepper built in redundancy, Just in case, for some reason the coffee shop is closed, there is a park just around the corner across from the SuperStore. Different arrangements can be made from there.
Thanks for the overwhelming support. Im really exited about meeting you all.

New to the board. My wife and I just started to get into prepping and are thinking on checking out the meet.
She wants to know if our 10yr old daughter would be allowed to come with us.

Hi and welcome. I cant see any reason why not to. Its not like any of us are the marching around in combat gear and plotting sedition types. More the competative firewood stacking types

Hello. I'm new to prepping and was hoping to stop by. I am hoping to learn as much as I can and meet some like minded folks. Do I have to pm someone or sign up somewhere? Or can I just stop by?
No need. Just show up with some books to talk about...or not if you have none. Its just a laid back chance to meet others

So glad it's still on! I *just* got asked to work that day, and at the moment I need the income, but my prepper-interested roommate may be coming instead, as "ambassador" of our slowly developing homestead: small acreage woodlot with meadow right in Wolfville, lots of gardening/livestock potential, a good library of prepper books but a lack of us knowing everything, and a wish to connect with others in the maritimes who are exploring this! She is currently building a pallet hut on the land and wants to make it self-sufficient. If she can go, I'll lend her plenty of books and hope you all hit it off so I can come to the next gathering. (Which I'd be happy to host in the Valley - but we can talk about that later). Sorry I can't meet you all in person this time - hope we keep talking here.
Quick update: my roommate isn't able to attend either, so I wish you all a good time this Sunday, and please keep me in the loop for the next potential gathering!

Nice to meet everybody who turned out. It's nice to know there are some like-minded folk around the area. Some real nice discussions and great conversion. Thanks to C5, and ms. c5 for getting everybody out to meet. Strange how people with such diverse backgrounds seem to click when they have prepping in common.

It was nice meeting everybody, we had a great time and look forward to future meets and learning more from like minded people.
I'll echo that RP, thanks to Mr & Mrs C5 for setting up the meet. Thanks also to our speaker who gave a great seminar on antibiotics. He was very well spoken and knowledgeable and I learned a lot.
I did find it interesting that, of the eleven adults present, three were medical professionals. To my mind this speaks volumes regarding the thin veneer of civilization as we know it. It also dispells the myth that we preppers are pistol packing hoarders hiding behind barbed wire.
It was nice to sit and talk with like-minded individuals instead of the usual eye rolling, head shaking crowd (or sitting alone stewing in my own thoughts).
Thanks to all for the book titles, perennial and annual plant ideas, and para-cord info.
Well, I have to go roast a squirrel and take my first watch at the wire.

You guys said it all. Thanks again to c5 our guest speaker and to everyone that showed up. The meeting went very well! Talk soon.
