Adaglo and myself did a recon trip to the campsite to check things out 🙂

The campground is rented to only two groups, the main campground has been rented to a Larping group and our group will be the only other group in, we have a front area, with a main fire pit, a large open grassy area, its tree'd on the back and open on the front for easy pull in and pull out for larger vehicles and trailers, there are a couple smaller area's cut into the trees that will be perfect for tents or smaller units for more privacy.

Its got a very rustic outhouse and we are welcome to go to the main house for water from the hose that will be on well water, otherwise, its worth noting again, no hookups of any kind. its a bring it in if you want to have it.

Adagio and myself will be arriving Friday late afternoonish for set up of our camping gear and visiting Friday supper and evening.. its approx. 25 min from the forest site, after the Saturday event, I am looking forward to the Saturday evening and sunday morning visiting.

There is very little signage for the place.. it is very easy to drive by thinking its a lane into a farmers field.. its a very rustic sandy track in and the roads are pretty narrow.. I do not believe that there is any spraying done for bugs, so please come prepared for that.

Ps, the owners have a few large dogs at the house area.. just so folks are aware.

Looking forward to the after hour visiting, normally I am so busy at the event itself that I do not get much visiting in.. I am hoping this year will be much better for just getting to know folks.

We plan on arriving pretty early, maybe even before noon.
Anything we should know about in regards top where to put the trailer?

As you drive into the camp ground you follow a narrow road and to left you will see a picnic table. Its the first site on the camp ground. That is our designated area. I would suggest you park your trailer at the site and walk to the main office. Grouchy is suppose to get there fairly early friday morning as well. So more than likely you will recognize the bus.

If you drive passed the round building (the art gallery) you have gone to far.

Hi Denob,

you are free to place it where you would like to do so, we are not giving anyone spots, but I will say that I expect that folks might sit up and chat at the fire for a while so if you want to put it to the side or closer to the road so that you will have a little more distance for quiet sleeping

Is there only one picnic table for group camping?
Was planning on putting one under the dinning tent.
Will think of way around it if we only have one.

What's a rough number for attendees at this point?

May try to bring a little taster of honey for everyone.

I think we would be safe to say around 30. But there are always a few folks that show up that have not expressed their interest. You just never know. But I know I would certainly be interested in a taste sample. Yum.

Yum honey 🙂

I was figuring out my timing for Saturday morning, and I realized that Google Maps now has the picnic shelter/gazebo labelled, for those who are coming for the first time. It is called Henri Latreille Shelter, Indian Creek Road, Ontario. GPS coords are 45°22'33.6"N 75°14'33.5"W

weather is all over the place, we do have a fully covered shelter in case of rain, but heads up, it might have rain on the weekend, but do prepare for hot weather as well

Looking forward to it...we should be at Whispering Pines sometime around 3PM.
We have an awning on the trailer, and usually have a 10 x 12 tarp or two.
If we need to put up a rain shelter around the campfire, I'm sure we can pool resources and figure something out.

Hey all

Just a quick heads up about my beekeeping presentation...

I had originally hoped to bring a small observation hive with me so you folks could see some bees hard at work. However, with this brutal drought, my bees have suffered enough stress and pulling even just a few thousand bees out of a hive at this point will hurt overall colony health and definitely my honey harvest.

I will be bringing a hive and plenty of equipment and tools to show you all, as well as some printed fact sheets. AFTER the event, I'll try to put together a google doc of the information i cover, for anyone who is interested in beekeeping can access.

It's coming... and it's going to hurt!
