I'm up for that. I'd love to demonstrate the Emberlit stove for everybody!

I'm in Brantford I think mamaizzy is as well?

It's better to prep for something that may never happen than not prep for something that does.

It's a little out of the way for most, but I'm sure I can get an event scheduled at Mat Redsell's sustainable home in Port Burwell.
His insights into everything sustainable/off grid/etc... should prove to be very educational. Here's his web site for more info:

hi
my name is charles and i live in hamilton, as a very long time prepper, i can tell you a few items you need for basic survival, first knowledge. read everything you can get your hands on, one of the recommended books is put out by the mormans called the : lds manual" which stands for later day saints manual, this manual is a preppers dream, filled with a detailed food list, instructions on use and preparing it. the mormans are required to put supplies away for tough times.so they have the practise and knowledge, it is a free download at " http://www.survivalandpreparednessforum.com/showthread.php?1826-LDS-Preparedness-Manual-(free) click on the link and it will download to your computer, you will need a abode reader.

second. buy a couple of cans of wasp stray, they shoot up to twenty feet and will temp blind a person and cause breathing issues without killing them.
it is one thing to talk about using deadly force, but in a real situation in most cases they will not go that extra step. which in my opinion, is a personal choice, however i would always go with the non lethal opinion, as a first choice. remember to use a can to test your aim at a target, no human or animal testing of course. always aim for the upper chest and face, remember also this is only suggestion not how to. you are the only one who will pay the price of using this method in a manner not in keeping with the current law. " i would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6" words to live by.

third, don't give out your address, phone number etc etc etc, use common sense, the people you tell now. will be the people who will first ask for food and supplies , next demand it and lastly take it. lessons about this is everywhere from eastern europe, the usa , etc etc.
if you decide to meet someone don't use last names, provide a neutral email address, meet in a busy area and always remember not everyone who uses prepper sites is on the level. most are, some are not.

if you decide to form a M>a>g group, mutual support group. have a meeting area , use only first names , a throw away email address, one of the positive aspects of have a mag is" some are owners of business that can provide repairs, goods at a discount price.

group buys for example of long term food is cheaper, however learn to make your own, its easy and a lot cheaper.

lastly obey the law, nothing and i mean nothing will get your butt in legal hell if you start doing activities that are against the law.
don't be stupid, never talk about or teach anyone skills that are against the law. obey all gun laws, if you need to practice do it at an approved range.
don't bring any firearms to meetings, or your next stop will be a jail cell. this is canada and not the usa, i for one am very happy with that.

at the meetings you can teach canning, growing food, money saving ideas , bulk purchases, etc etc etc.

this may sound like preaching, but if you wish to be successful at this use common sense. you can prepare of any emergency, with limited resources.

hope this helps. all the best
charles

I did the last one, so someone else can do the next one. I believe Ranger has offered to do a demo but the problem is finding a location with an empty structure.

The park worked fine last time, why not again?
Any public park already belongs to us, the public. Just pick one. You've got about an 8% chance of a rainout.

I believe Ranger needs a structure like a barn.

A shelter is not necessarily a must, but the majority of events I plan for, Mother nature intervenes with tears of joy or she has a hot flash. So, I do like to have a shelter as a back-up.

Here's an idea. How about the Hamilton folks just meet for lunch at a restaurant or coffee shop and leave planning a regular meet for Sept?
