Great site. Same format as FB but with us in mind. The creator takes suggestions on the site and I look forward to making it my go to page. Its a place where you can moderate who sees you and who can reply to you.

Two huge thumbs up!

Take care IPN.

PM me if you want to be 'friends'.

Yup, I'm member 10 or something. I sent a friend request to everybody because there's only 10 people so why not? LOL

It's better to prep for something that may never happen than not prep for something that does.

Some people are concerned regarding the loss of privacy... others seem eager to add to the information they post with no control over what happens to it.

If you are not sure what to use it for.. then why add yourself to it? Perhaps it is my age... but I have no desire and no need to become part of every social network in existence or any social network for that matter. I just don't get it.

Outside of prepping, I don't think I would have the lifestyle or income I have now if not for social networks. Expertise is spread by word of mouth, and it provides a vendor a means to sell a product/service to a ready pool of people who would be willing to listen to what you have to say. 95% of my business was solidified through social networks. A resume in a pile of resumes is a barcode, while a resume personally handed in by a friend in a good position is a qualified person with a face.

I do see your point though - I'm not sure why I signed up, seeing as it's somewhat redundant with the types of contributions we can make here on this forum.

You don't have to share things with everyone on the network. In a forum EVERYONE can see what you post. Only add what you want, and unlike Facebook you can delete your account if you want. I cant even do that here. No moderators so there is more freedom as long as it follows the laws of the land and not that of a few people. I do like forums but if I post a photo I can choose who sees it on a social network. Facebook sucks crap since it is more suited for the frilly part of life. It is nice to have a network like inchsurvival that is geared toward me and others in here vs the yuppies. Some don't like change and thats OK, or just the idea of competition in a certain arena. For me the more sites like these the better since the goal should be to inform people in any environment. Social Networking is far more accepted than forums by the masses and hopefully we can get some in there to learn as well.

I find it to be more private than a forum since I have more control over my posts.

Hey Gravlore,
If you don't want to be here, just say so...I can deactivate you in a second!
As for the rules of the forum, you agreed to abide by them so stop complaining about them.

No need to threaten anyone, he's just stating a fact, not insulting you...

No threats from me either...just facts also.
Why would someone voluntarily be part of something then complain about it?
Doesn't make sense to me.

That's what I mean - you can read it as a complaint, or you can read it as a simple pros vs cons. He doesn't need to pick one OR the other, right? Nothing wrong with accessing both.

Personally, I prefer the forum approach for absorbing information/knowledge. A social network based knowledge website will fail because you can't address the entire community.

Trying not to be totally stupid here, but what does the acronym I.N.C.H. stand for?
Other than that, I have to admit that I do not feel comfortable sharing any personal information including pictures on any social networking site.
I once listened to a commentator that reminded me that in regard to FaceBook and other networking sites, I (we) am not the customer. I am the data. The customer is the company/government that buys (or otherwise extracts) the data from the site.
Maybe this new social network site isn't going to sell data, but that doesn't mean it isn't going to be collected and used.
My 2 cents anyway.

Perhaps I just have more experience dealing with him and his sometimes intentionally dividing comments...
"It is nice to have a network like inchsurvival that is geared toward me and others in here vs the yuppies"

Why does it have to be us vs them?

Haha true, I didn't think of it that way.
