Peace of mind, while I don't really have that now it will be much worse after SHTF.
Diet coke. I know it is bad for me, oh well.
I can grow tobacco and am thinking of trying to grow coffee plants indoors but, diet coke will be the one thing I really miss.
My biggest 'miss' would be the internet.
Checking the weather to see what's happening around me, as well as at a distance.
To see what I have to guard my garden/fruit against spring/summer/fall.
Also what's headed my way in winter.
Now, I am spoilt.
I can check weather if a hail storm is headed in, then race out to cover garden beds. I have in the past many times saved veggies/fruits from being plummeted from hail.
Or to prepare if a major storm/cold snap is heading my way, so stock up another pile of wood by the stove ready to go.
Nothing like listening to it howl out there while sitting inside warm and cozy by the fire, knitting another pair of socks or reading a good book or the smell of bread baking. 🙂
Another 'miss' would be once chainsaws can not be operated anymore (lack of fuel/repairs..one can only stock so much.) ..that will take a long time and work to gather in fuel for the next winter.
Another is the ease of contacting far away friends/family via email, but I will adapt, there will have no choice.
I guess I am sort of a basic person. As long as me and the critters are fed, warm and still able to do what needs doin'...that's what counts with me.
A sense of humor is absolutely essential to survival.

This sounds interesting...someone, somewhere on the forum was just asking about growing coffee...
If you get into this, it would be great if you shared your experience.
I wonder if a greenhouse would stay warm enough through the winter for coffee.
Chocolate. And ice cream. And bailey's. And comedy.
Finally! Someone mentioned chocolate!!! Baileys is a good one too. And Guinness 🙂 And wine, although I plan to learn how to make my own fermented berry wine, but it won't be the same as what we buy at the LCBO and wine stores. Popcorn. Eventually, I would miss most everything because after time it would all disappear, except what we can produce ourselves and forage. I would probably go through phases of missing the conveniences of our modern, technologically-advanced world. I am moving toward being as independent of the system as possible, which means doing a lot of things the old fashioned way, but right now, if I have a moment of longing for the convenience, I can still take advantage of it. One day, that convenience may not be there. But I won't mind too much.

Me too.
I would miss google earth (working out my own weather report is very useful on a farm). Chainsaw is a biggy and I will miss my tractor and hay equipment something awful. I will also miss many of the animals I now have because of the reduction in equipment. I guess I will have to go into semi retirement mode and start taking it easy if SHTF.
Besides what I already posted that I would miss. I would also miss a vacuum cleaner
and the electric toothbrush
I will need a portable lightweight solar generator so I can charge it for a few days and use
it once in a while for vacuum cleaner. and charging that electric toothbrush and other
periodic needs.
I will also miss being able to use the Food Saver sealer
Clamato and vodka.

gasoline, whiskey, coffee, running water, electricity ( not for tv or video games strictly for heat and light )
i do always want to get out of the city and just live in a cabin in the woods most of the time though. i almost took off to go camping last weekend. i hate the amount of people i am surrounded by, that will be one thing i wont miss, but a big part of my plan is to head north so i just hope i have enough fuel if i need to do so.

Our growing shelf is in a large south facing window over a heat vent, when the plants are watered well and the heat kicks in, it can feel like a sauna in here some days. Bill has suggested using a heavy duty plastic wrap around the shelf for a "greenhouse" effect but again says it is so booooooring because it is in a container. I told him to get his crap together and figure out a way to make coffee plants winter hardy! lol Kids do not like the challenges I give them. I will share any success or failures, I haven't even started yet. January I go full garden crazy inside. Once December is done, I am ready for Spring!
My wife says fresh fruit/veggies, toilet paper and pads. My kids call for video games. But for me I think it would be my survival gear.

Take your survival gear with you. Actually buy more!

My family and current friends. Depending on the severity of the disaster, there are people in my life that either would not make it, or be permanently cut off.
If the trucks stop moving...
I'd miss citrus and spices, and tetley tea. We'd miss dairy too, hopefully we'd find someone local with goats/cow and be able to barter..
