Well it looks like June 9/2012...12:00 noon will work for our second Alberta meeting..

We will meet at the Tim Horton's/Dairy Queen parking lot [" 12 west side drive cochrane Ab]" we will have plenty of room on the east side of the building for lawn chairs and privacy, and excellent Amenities for any kids to amuse themselves....As well as for ourselves, I hope this works for a location.

An excellent suggestion was made by" Dangphool" for an Agenda. So here is what was brought up at the first " meet and greet " at Bragg creek....

Bug in/ bug out; when do you leave and where to go..
What do we do for prepping and where do you draw the line for expense..
How long of time line do you prep for..72 hours/7 days/ 1month/6 months/1 year/ext, ext, ext...........you get the pic............
How do you mentally prepare yourself for mild & or cataclysmic events..
Lone wolf or a group which is better for you....
Protection; personal and group security....
What as prepper's do we see in the near, and distance futcher that we may have to face for disaster scenario's, mild/medium/and of the chart cataclysmic worse case scenario...

This is just a start to get your minds working, right your thoughts down, lets have a good help-full meeting.....

So Again this will be the East side parking lot of the Cochrane Tim Horton's/ Dairy queen.....[ " # 12 WEST SIDE DR COCHARANE AB CDN"].....see you there.....

Traveller,

Thanks for stick handling this initiative. The 9th is going to be a challenge but if the stars align I will be there.

Cheers

I'm glad we went with the 9th as I have a Project Management course on the 16th that I forgot about.

Dairy Queen parking lot brings up another future agenda item that the missus and I discuss regularly and which was brought up early in Zombieland;

We know we have to get into better shape; if not for the zombies, then for those starving, well-armed, American hordes which are more likely...

Hope to see a good showing.

Just a thought for some or all to bring there equipment; I will be bringing my bug out bag and all that is in it..... Minus the R.P.G's...LOL...I relise my location for # 2 is a little puplic, more then I would like, but it is easy to find and easy to find each other.. I will be driving my silver jeep again, this will be the rally point and if we need to we can move down to the river.. Thanks for all for the imput for locations, With any luck the weather will co-operate, and we have a great turn out.....

Hello there,

I'm new on this network, as well as all these preppers stuff, and wanted to see if there were folks in Calgary to learn/plan how to get ready for an emergency/cathastrophic type situation from. I will try an meet you guys on June 9th, 2012 in Cochrane @ 12:00 am.

straight south of the timmies about one city block, turn right and proceed onto the gravel. its a parking lot for the ball diamond and access to the midford pond park, a huge grassy area. have the kids bring a fishing rod as there are huge rainbows in the two ponds, only 150m from the parking area. they take silver fox and mepps spinners quite well. make sure the gear can handle up to an eight pound rainbow with an attitude. no bait allowed and adults can fish but not keep any. kids can keep 2 per day.

I am new to the Alberta Preppers Network and i am new to the prepping movement and looking to gain knowledge in this area. I'm looking forward to making it down to this meeting on June 9th at noon. Do we come solo or can we bring the wife and kids?

I live in the Calgary SE area near 130th Ave. and i also wanted to know if there are any other's that live in the SE area of Calgary?

Howdy 403,

If the wife and kids are supportive, they will enjoy it. If they hate the idea, the will get bored and want to leave just as you are starting to make some progress on your learning objectives. Having said that, they are welcome by all of us. If I am allowed to answer for those who attended the first meeting. If they get bored, you might want to suggest they leave you for an hour or so, and they can go to the ice cream place in Cochrane and take in some of the local sights. Many a family from Calgary take a Sunday drive just to go for ice cream in Cochrane. I need help here Briden, I do not know the name of the ice cream place in your town.

Hope to see you there. I am not sure if I will have company this time, as somebody has a soccer game at 1030, and if I stay for the whole game I will be late getting to the meeting myself.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

Sorry to see that the meeting will be the 9th instead of the 16th, as it means I won't be able to make the meeting.. hope everyone has a great time!

Hey Mountainman,

Thanks for the tips and yes we've taken a few drives out there and the ice cream shop is called McKay's Ice Cream at least that's what it was called a few years back! ha

Ya I basically have been getting more and more into the prepping movement and more so to just be prepared if anything does go "SIDEWAYS" in our country or our neighbors down south...To start I have basically started with firearms training and collecting the essential weapons that will be needed to defend my family if need be. Now i'm starting to learn more about foods that can be bought to store, BOB's, BOV's and BOL's and also getting to know other preppers in the area I live in which could come in handy because I also believe in the "PACK" mentality and I believe a lone-wolf wouldn't last too long out there once things hit the fan!

Anyways hope to see you guys there on June 9th!

Sadly, I was unable to get to the first meeting. The second one may be a bit difficult also but I will certainly try.
