Sorry guys. That's still too far to drive from Fort McMurray. Maybe the northern guys will organize too.

Crashed: No, nobody asked what a prepper was. They all just kinda stared blankly as they stuffed their faces with DQ burgers and such. I was going from car to car and knocking on the driver's window. It was raining so they were only opening their windows a small bit. They didn't want to engage me in conversation. Yeah, they probably thought I was some crazy evangelical nutcase trying to spread the word...

Looking forward to this weekend. I might be able to bring my girlfriend. She's onboard with all this stuff too. I am lucky.

Is there anyone south of Calgary interested in holding a meeting?

MamaP,

That may be a possibility in the very near future. First we would like to see how many show up to the 09 June meet in Cochrane. I hope you can make it. There will be a good turnout of fine folks who are like minded and interested in discussing ideas, plans, concerns and networking. If there is a large enough concentration of folks from South of Calgary who make the meeting, maybe another meet South of Calgary will happen, sooner than later.

I hope that helps. See you there??

Mountainman.

@mountainman...I'm still too new of a member to pm you back. I just joined the group today so a meeting 2 days from now is a little too soon for me. However when the next one is held I would like to know or to find out if anyone would be interested in hosting one a little south?

Yes it is, though the weather looks like it could be crappy.

@ Traveller/Mountain/Briden - Do you guys know if there are any barbecue shelters at the park next to the Timmies? Just in case the rain is really bad.

I'm in a blue ford F150.

Sorry Dang,

It has been a few days since I last drove through Cochrane, I am not sure of facilities that are available.

Mountainman.

PS - I will bring a tarp, in case it is possible to string it up and provide some shelter.

Wish we could be there with everyone, but sadly not this time. 🙁 Hopefully you have nice weather, a great turnout and that someone will start a thread to tell us all about the meeting.
Take care on your travels this weekend

Well looks like Mother Nature will not be co-operative with the weather for our second meeting, how ever with some luck we will have a great time in between rain showers....We should have a good turn out with all the views and replies...See you there....

There are a couple of nearby options depending on the size of the crowd. There is a pavilion with a roof, no walls, but a roof. Also nearby is a bbq area that has been permanently locked up. So while we can't get in, the building itself could provide wind and rain block.

I was in the Tim Horton's parking lot as were a couple other preppers. Where was everyone else?
