Just wondering if anyone here teaches or can at least recommend a good person for doing the CFSC exams. Want to upgrade from possesion only and would rather support someone here rather than someone faceless. I travel around for work so Calgary or Edmonton really does not matter or anywhere else in Alberta.......heck even any of the other Western Canadian provinces.

Thanks!

If this is the test you need to get your PAL ... then you could check with Inglewood Guns in Calgary (Pro-Line Shooters). That's where I took mine a few years ago. They may still be doing it.

Try looking on the Alberta hunter's education instructor's association website.
http://www.aheia.com/
they teach both non- and restricted courses.
It is set up well for beginners and those that have forgotten too much.

Here is a copy of a message from the OCIPEP.GC.CA website

Government of Canada takes action toward effective gun controlOTTAWA, May 18, 2012 — The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, today announced amendments to the Firearms Fees Regulations as part of the Government of Canada’s plan to bolster public safety and effective firearms control.

The Government of Canada has waived the fees associated with renewing or upgrading all classes of firearms licences until September 17, 2012.

Effective September 18, 2012, the fee waiver for renewing licences with restricted or prohibited privileges will expire, while the fees for renewing a licence with non-restricted privileges will continue to be waived until May 16, 2013.

“Our Government is committed to effective gun control and tackling the criminal misuse of firearms,” said Minister Toews. “We believe in targeting criminals, not duck hunters and farmers.”

“Our effort to combat criminal gun crimes remains strong. Through a number of other legislative measures, the Government has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to tackling the criminal use of firearms, through the introduction of minimum mandatory penalties for gun crimes and increased screening for new firearms applicants,” added Minister Toews.

Shooting edge has a good one i took mine there about 5yrs ago and paid a little extra and got a years membership at their range too. I'm not sure if they still offer that deal but you can ask them.
