Hey Everyone,
Inspiration from the current floods, I decided to look for a free emergency weather text alert service. The weather network offers one but it comes with a fee. Anyone know of a free service to receive quick notifications of any regional emergencies? I think this would be very valuable. If a dam gave in, water levels increased rapidly, etc. Thanks!
Hi Tucker,
Here is the City of Calgary police service alerts. http://www.calgary.ca/cps/Pages/The-Hub.aspx
It offers phone, Email and Text service
Alberta Emergency Management has a sign up for alerts signals as well. Their web address is http://www.emergencyalert.alberta.ca/
It has an annoying warning tone, but it gives you access to information for the whole province which would be useful if you were leaving one area and moving to another region. You can check it on Facebook, Twitter or go to their sign-up section to receive alerts on mobile devices or computers.
"It's better to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret"
The service above also has a text (SMS) service "wish to receive alerts via text messages to your phone, text Follow AB_EmergAlert to 21212"
Rubidoom
Thanks everyone, I am checking it all out now
