Found this on the net...wish I had the address but I just don't...

“make photocopies of the following (or scan and burn to CD or flash drive) and keep one set at home in a waterproof bag and another in a safe-deposit box.”

It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.....
Excellent list. One thing to add would be a recent family photo plus individual photos. This will be invaluable if the need arises to post pics to find family members or to "prove" that a child is family.
JAB
Take a pic with the parents and 1 child. Get a stamp pad and get the child to put their prints on the back of the photo. This "proves" relationship and gives clear id.

I would also suggest keeping a copy on flash drive in your BOB.
If something drastic happens and you have to bug out, the banks and your home may not be there when you get back!
snow&rain,
Good reminder.
This is generating lots of good ideas. Family pics, individual pics, finger prints on the back of the pics, flashdrives.
I would like to suggest, if you are taking a digital camera in your bugout gear to use your home computer to put a file on your camera's SD card that includes the above suggestions. You could even scan the finger prints and have them as a JPG file on the SD card.
Good point about homes and banks missing in an extreme event. But that does not reduce the importance of storing copies of your documents and pics in multiple locations, You may even want to cache a set in the hills, a long way from town and well above any possible flooding.
Keep the great ideas coming.

In addition to everything listed, I like to also keep copies of my trade tickets, school certifications, etc...
I carry a small USB drive that fits in my wallet, and has all of the above documents scanned and saved on it.
To protect the information, I use a program called True Crpyt.

It allows you to make an a self loading encrypted drive on a USB card, as well as encrypted files on your computer, should you also want to back up the information there.
