just stopped off by chance at the local Walmart. They had Instant Maxwell House Coffee 200g Original Roast on sale for $2.97 no apparent limit.
In my classes I always mention Instant coffee as a comfort item as well as a heck of a barter tool (especially since I don't drink the stuff) Roast coffee or beans (unless green) have a shelf life of 6 months or less. Instant coffee (aka dehydrated coffee) has a shelf life of 20+ yrs if stored right.
Spoke to the store and got no answers on if this sale will last beyond today so get to Walmart before close!!!!
Sounds like a good deal, but just one thing I disagree with...
Ground coffee is one of the items I have in surplus, meaning more than a year's supply.
Using the first in first out rotation, my morning coffee is made from grounds that are always 15-18 months old...no issues.
I do have some instant for bug out situations and for barter, so I don't disagree with keeping some on hand, but I am living, healthy proof that ground coffee does not go bad after 6 months.
Not a bad price, but as Denob points out ....

Is what you say worth at least a Canadian nickel now?
Cause two cents ain't worth squat anymore !

Self-sufficient is good. Co-efficient is better.

You'll notice on that page you provided the link to there is another link that specifies how coffee bean should not be stored in a freezer.

I'm going to swing in tomorrow night when I land just in case it's still on sale... I use the instant stuff all the time when camping (especially the hazelnut flavoured).
I use it in baking...we don't usually drink coffee either
Personally, I do NOT like coffee and don't drink it, but I certainly see the value in stocking it for barter and plan to do so. Nice to get some info about that.
