Haven't read this one, but I will give it a once over.
Although it is not so much a book, but as stated, merely a collection of material gathered from the internet.
Do I believe in any of this? No, but I try to keep up on things like this so that I can understand the people who do.
As it is just a collection of internet material, I'm not expecting to see much that I haven't already...but it's worth a look.

OK. Where to begin? Luckily its too hot to work outside and I have had a few beers. I didn't read it but I looked at the contents. As soon as I saw "Maiteya" I rolled my eyes and realised I knew the material and somehow this just became my responsibility. Like I don't have enough to do. Its been over 25 years since studying this...and that's a good place to start.

OK. As much as I like a good dystopian horror story....25 years. Im around 50. Reality check. That means this hippy dubbed "Maitreya the Christ" from some random ashram, with receding hairline and beer belly is being worshipped and controls the UN. Ive talked with Hindus. They have never heard of the guy...or even understand the concept.

Reality check number two. The secret conspiracy of new agers. Lets meditate about this while surrounded by crystals and channel our inner goddess a bit. Can you seriously think these light weight spiritual narcissists reeking of essential oils, actually are part of a nefarious plot to give Christians the number of the beast.

I thought Obama was the latest antichrist. Hang on. Back in the eighties, when Constance C was pushing this stuff, Competing prophetic paranoids were saying Gorbachev was the antichrist. The liver spots on this head was really the mark of the beast....and there were 88 reasons why jesus was coming back in 88. Just so you get this, this is almost a reworking of others works. Except they blame it on the jews....of course it also mimics an identical mythos of the Pope being the dark lord himself, himself. Its all, take random biblical prophesies, circles, and obsessively run around every thing everyone has ever said to find square facts to pound into the holes. Its obsessive compulsive behavior. A way to try and make sense of a random universe. Certain people are more subject to this than others. On one side, there is adrenalin addiction. People like a good horror story. If it loses its thrill, the story must be even more over the top next time to maintain the buzz. For others its low self esteem. Suddenly, they are now the holders of the secret knowledge. Instead of being the average, every day losers, they are now one of the chosen few that know the "Truth" and are now part of jesus's special plan. They are not really losers. They are just "persecuted" for there specialness . (Pay special attention to that line I just wrote...because you will probably recognise a similarity with a lot of "PREPPERS"). This is self reinforcing. The more you believe it and talk about it to others, the more they fear and reject you, the more the loser you are, the more you feel persecuted, the more "special" you are.

Next reality check. Marx and Hitler were really Satanists....in spite of every thing they ever said and wrote. Enough said.

Im probably guessing that Madam Blavatsky (a popular medium of the day that did table shaking and psychic surgeries and other fakery) has something to do with all this and was actually the spiritual head of all of these divers political groups, including the UN. Just guessing.

Next reality check is that the US is gods chosen people, specifically targeted because god love them more than anyone else on the face of the planet...except, maybe isreal...maybe... because of their religious freedom. I don't even know where to begin with this except, see losers and low self esteem and needing to feel you are "special" simply because you were randomly squeezed past your mothers stretched and well used vajayjay onto that piece of dirt at this moment in history.

But inspite of my irreverent way of doing things, this is a SERIOUS prepper thing to deal with. This is how Taliban are made. This is how Hutu genocide gets motivated. This is how The Right Wing Death Squads that devastated Central America were made. Create an enemy that you can subhumanise in the name of god. Its an old human enemy. Scapegoating. The term is straight from the Old Testament. You put your hands on a goat and your sins are transferred to it an it is cast out..
There is big money to be made by the psychological divisions of advertising firms knowing that they can play on this human...weakness, fault , back door. Those that have the most money can do well. Whats more important to preppers is that, as things break down, psychologically stressed people revert back to comforts of the past. This came up while talking to another of my group members. The subject came up, "How exactly did we become Prepper Elders? Why is this our responsibility? Its not like we are experts in everything." The answer was, " If we don't do it... The fucking Arian Nations is advertising to pick up any disenchanted prepper youngster that we miss. When we did our last big public meeting in Calgary, I started off by doing a brief history of the preparedness movement (starting with the government encouragement in case of atomic war) and up to the point where it was hijacked by right-wing militias and merchandise mongols (Nat Geo)... I was trying to express how hard it is to find people of common goals without being ridiculed and without falling in with the "wrong group"

Perhaps the pendulum will once again swing back in favour of the sanely cautious. Those who simply prepare for emergencies without seeking a label?

That's fantastic. I'm a lousy public speaker. I think that someone sitting down and doing a history of prepping would be a very good thing...including talking about the really bad stuff. For new preppers, you cant really understand why people do certain things unless you know where we have been. Much of the time, when I see preppers gun fascination, I know its not about hunting or home defence. Its all about starting a civil war. Sort of the opposite of survival. How did we get here? It links back to white supremacist, the identity movement and militant offshoots of the Klan. Lets not forget The Turner Diaries. The other militants came out of the Christian Reconstructionist Movement. These folks are still a very large part of Modern Prepping. Then we have the period where survivalism was used a recruiting tool to hire mercenary's...and the puppies of war thought that was how you got survival training. Any time I hear a new prepper asking about "Training", I fear this is what they are really asking for. They would be sorely let down if I said to them, "Training begins now, maggots. This is my shovel. There are many like it but this one is mine. After your breakfast of squash and sunchokes, the next training session will be about shelving units and where to purchase food for half price. Do not be late, Maggots. Are you laughing at me. Drop and give me 100."

Yes it was a common practise...to pass your sins onto another (goats/ sheep in this case) and cast it out...seems its a common theme for humans to need to be forgiven and have their failings/sins taken on by something else...thank god no eccentric preachers picked up the idea to incorporate in their religion....imagine the damage that could be done
