So its been hot, to hot, I was inside sitting in front of the fan, and I heard someone outside, right out side my window....doing something.now I am in the middle of no where, friends and neighbourse come right to my door, and they usually call first as its a long way to come and not find me home......I headed out the patio doors, took the long way around the house and got the jump on the guy , now as I rounded the corner I could see the gas company name on his coveralls and his hands were in sight holding a clip board thing and he was writing something down,
Now I don't have gas, haven't had gas here in 15 years, I heat with wood, always have...I had gas hooked up years ago (25 years ago), but never used it, got tired of paying the minimium monthly charge for something I didn't use so I had them shut off the gas and pull the meter, inother words I am completely unhooked...no meter or anything! So I chatted with the guy, and he told me that they have to do inspections of all lines active or not, and that its provincial legislation to do so, no notice needs to be given as its considered a safety requirement, I asked him how often? he said they can inspect it at will or if there is a concern, but it looks like (he looked at his clip board) that they check it every 2 years....I had know idea that they had been coming around all these years! I am usually at work...I have hidden cameras up that record everything but I never check them as I would only look at them if I was broken into. Anyway it was quite a surprise. Something to be aware of.
I also asked him what it costs to bring in a gas line to a house. He told me it starts at 6000.00 that's if there is already a line going by the property, and you build right close to it...it goes up from 6000 depending on how far they have to trench it, and if they have to cut trees or go through bush. He said my place would be likely 10,000 to do today 😮 ( I think it was 2000 years ago, maybe 1500)
They sure do drive nice new trucks.....glad I am not paying for them
