I've been working on getting my factory infared working in my Pinzgauer for two weeks. I'd almost given up hope after tracing wires, dialetic greasing all points of contact, tore apart the entire IR module which tested good, installed new switches... all to no avail. Finally it ends up being the windshield wipers and the switch for the IR were making contact at the main #12 fuse panel. Nothings in English includes the owners manual, which made everything a real bitch.

Going to try it out tonight with my goggles.

CryBaby,

It is dark now, how did your IR Lamp work?? Ever find any deep perception issues when wearing your IR Googles and driving in the dark??

Hope you are out having fun in the dark!! 😮

very neat project. something that could come in very handy later!

i ran a quick search for thermal imaging cameras for vehicles, and most of the prices I came up with were between $1000 and $2000. any chance you want to brag about how much your unit cost?

See you all after.

Had a great night, grabbed some munchies, a well stocked cooler and headed out with the wife. The IR worked great with the exception of three off camber deep mud ravines where my wife insisted on the lights being turned on since she couldn't see squat.

My goggles are Russian made Newcom Gen3. I bought them threes years ago in Spokane for $3500 in comparison the US Gen3 for $5000. A little fish eye around the edges but that is expected for binos.

The only other real issues tonight was the IR module on the Pinzgauer was set a bit high, easy to adjust tomorrow. As for being very stealth, my exhaust needs to be reworked. A bit loud if I want to be more undetectable with all lights off.

I've work with IR scopes while in the military, and frankly I think they should only be a secondary measure to nightscopes. For detection they work great, for driving they are a pain. :geek:
