They sell them at Canadian Tire in the camping section.

Costco.ca doesn t require a membership and ships to your home free on these items. Most of their shipping is free and comes through quite quickly usually 5-9 days and we have never had a problem. Usually is delivered in our area by the nice men with the brown trucks and cute shorts 😉

Costco sells MREs via their online store as well as Mountian House cans by the case. I believe the price is $400.00 for 18 Cans they say will feed a family of 4 for 2 weeks. Also a 72hr bug out kit with 3 brekkies, lunch and dinner for $60 and also cases of 8 MREs for $60.00 which is about $7.50 ea, less than a Big Mac combo. Look under Foods, emergency food kits. I'm newish to prepping (unless being a boy scout counts..LOL) and a new member here. Look forward to getting lots of good info and ideas. Hope this helps someone.

Thank you tinbasher. Costco's site doesn't go into shipping costs-guess that's why. But, now when they deliver I will be wondering if they are the one that morning coffee enjoys getting visits from-lol.

If you look at the price on the Costco.ca item it will tell you if shipping and handling are included. Generally it is, other than really large or awkward items, which makes it a bargain. We ordered, as well, some of their storage pails with the gamma lids and they are a good deal from what I have found. The lids are various colours so you could "code" your goods into various categories. They also carry the large gamma containers in store to be found in the ...dog food aisle, and are very well priced.

As for the delivery men in their little brown shorts you'll have to let me know (before the snow flies as they then switch to long pants-BOOOOO) 😉

One thing to keep in mind and to investigate before you look at prices of MRE's is the caloric value per package. Some are much less than others. It IS a case of "You get what you pay for".

It seems so odd-we are so careful now not to get too many calories or fats. The thought that we will be wanting those in the future shows how upside down things may really be.

Another way to view it is as "efficiency". The most value per dollar or unit of weight. If you are looking at MRE's for a bug out bag you want the greatest concentration of benefit. 3500 callories in 1/2 pound is better than 2400 calories in 1 1/2 pounds.

Your right, as long as they are not just sugar or wasted calories. You want carbohydrate, and protein and the vitamins that will keep you going. The type required for Military,SAR and NASA are the best. Usually with a 5 year shelf life. This is the longest shelf life that you want with any processed food. any longer than that and your eating more chemicals than food.
