Apparently many believe that Christians will be persecuted. Apparently we are special since Christians weren't persecuted in the past. OH wait yeah I seem to recall the ROMAN CATHOLIC INQUISITION!

In Matthew 23:9 Jesus says: " And call no man your father upon earth: for one is
your Father which is in Heaven."

Arent Catholic priests called "Father"?

Matthew 23:8 But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers.

2 Thessalonians 2:4
New International Version (NIV)

4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

Revelation 13:1, And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cardinal Robert Bellarmine stated this:

All names which in the Scriptures are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that he is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1895 an article from the Catholic National said this:

The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ, Himself, hidden under the veil of flesh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Papal documents also say this:

Those whom the Pope of Rome doth separate, it is not a man that separates them but God. For the Pope holdeth place on earth, not simply of a man but of the true God....dissolves, not by human but rather by divine authority....I am in all and above all, so that God Himself and I, the vicar of God, hath both one consistory, and I am able to do almost all that God can do...wherefore, if those things that I do be said not to be done of man, but of God, what do you make of me but God? Again, if prelates of the Church be called of Constantine for gods, I then being above all prelates, seem by this reason to be above all gods.

The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and the judge of councils; the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God himself on earth (emphasis added).x
The pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God, and the vicar of God...The Pope alone is called most holy...Hence the Pope is crowned with a triple crown, as king of heaven and of earth and of hell. Moreover the superiority and the power of the Roman Pontiff by no means pertains only to heavenly things, but also earthly things, and to things under the earth, and even over the angels, whom he his greater than. So that if it were possible that the angels might err in the faith, or might think contrary to the faith, they could be judged and excommunicated by the Pope...the Pope is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful of Christ, chief of kings, having plenitude of power.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 1302 Pope Boniface said this in a letter to the Catholic Church:

Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pope Pius V said this:

The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pope Leo XIII said this about the role of the Pope:

We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take from this what you will.

I understand this is a touchy subject but perhaps since these are documented they should not be considered opinion, but fact. If this is too much of a crap disturber I apologize but I come into conversations with history as well as teachings.

People make God what they want him to be, rather than read about what he IS. Open the Bible and read for yourself, rather than taking somone elses interpretation as to what it means. Man is flawed, plain and simple (this goes for your pastor or priest) This Paragraph is opinion.

That is another subject Buggy. I was referring to the KJV. But you are right in that Catholics have their own books as well. Many were left out of the canonization by MAN. The only words I can accept as gospel are the teachings of Jesus. They are usually written in red. This is my belief anyhow. But who knows for sure. Thats where faith comes in. I have a hard time with the faith end as I am a highly analytical person. I am not really emotional, so it seems that part of my brain only works 2% of the time. Some of Koran and the Christians old testament are very close. It is the New Testament and that Jesus is a savior where there is a disagreement. There are more areas where both sides differ of course.

It seems that many religions agree about the same God but salvation is where they differ.

Gravlore: didn't your mother ever tell you - "if you don't have anything nice to say - don't say anything at all!" Even if you were right being rude at the same time takes away from whatever point you were trying to make... and the greatest of these is LOVE.

2 cans of ravioli eh. I would love to take you on but I do not want to take your hard earned preps. I think so far it has been fairly cordial. The post from the beginning was somewhat controversial. We all have our own ideas and interpretations. It is good to share them from time to time even though everyone will never agree. I don't think there will be any conversions here.

I scanned his post a few times but still can't see where is the rude part. It must be my inglish 😳

this is the kind of topic that will end up with some posts that not everybody will agree with or find nice, as long as we keep it decent I don't see any problems

You guys should have bet... I was staying out of it.

I actually draw a line when there is a chance of offense in discussions about religion and faith.

Now a good debate or study between believers is always good. (face to face)

The point I was trying to make is that I beleive that behind or the multiplicity of criseses (is that a word?) that the world faces, is a profound spiritual crisis. We are rebelling against our benevolent Creator and slowly reaping the consequences in all spheres of our lives - economic, environmental, interpersonal, terrorism, violent and obscene extremes etc, etc. Our prepping alone will fall far short of addressing the problem. And certainly hoarding and hunkering down in bunkers is not the way to go.

I read some discussion of a group of preppers investing in some communally owned land to survive together. Well, I predict they will encounter in microcosm the same problems that are manifest around us, with persons pitted against each other. This one feeling that one isn't carrying his weight, this one feeling that one is egocentric, that one flirting with the spouse of someone else, if people think they can ignore the spiritual root of the crisis, and strategize their way out of it, they'll soon find out.

I met a couple who have just bought a large parcel of land and somehow got it into their brains that I was an ideal candidate for their sustainable community they are seeking to form. I couldn't escape fast enough, even though I believe in what they're doing up to a point... ie going green & sustainable. The sin problem will soon mess up their utopian plans, no doubt because there is no man made cure for the ills of humanity.

Gravlor - It would be beyond the purpose & scope of this website to answer the objections you raise about Catholicism, though there are answers to be given.

Ya I am done here. I said too much for a site like this. I debate regularly with people but I must admit this is not the place for such a discussion. If someone wanted to submit a rebuttal that is their call but I am done as I have probably said too much. Sorry if I offended anyone. PM if you want to have a go 🙂

I am not religious but I do agree that the breakdown of religion in our culture has led to a greater breakdown in society. Religion at least gives moral guidance where there may otherwise be none...well I say none loosely because man has created all sorts of religious beliefs and this makes up an important part to every culture. When the social engineers want to destroy a group of people they first destroy their culture, traditions and religion, then they have nothing that binds them together as a group.
