Top ten reasons why I don’t need to prepare and have my year’s supply of food
#10 The churches will help us
#9 I plan on eating my neighbours’ food
#8 I plan on moving in with my parents/children (epidemics, and pandemics are two reasons that will prevent you from banning together)
#7 The boat and the 4 wheelers are taking up my storage space
#6 Nothing is going to happen
#5 The government is going to rush in and save us all if anything happens
#4 I can’t afford scrapbooking AND food storage
#3 I’m waiting for someone to sell me Papa John’s dehydrated pizza
#2 A year? I thought it was 72 hours
#1 reason why I don’t need to prepare and have my year’s supply of food?
You tell me...What is your reason? What do you suppose are others’ reasons?
I must admit - the scrapbooking one is a good reason 😆

I think a lot of people are too distracted to give it much thought, it's barely a blip on their radar. And if you bring it up, well, they'll count on someone else bailing them out, primarily the government, but secondarily YOU, because, after all, you mentioned it.
What I hear frequently is "I am too scared to prepare because that means something will happen"
It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.....
One you forgot
" I don't have time, there's too much good stuff on TV."
I have heard- it costs too much, it takes too much effort
One sad one that I heard in the last few weeks - who says I want to survive
Of course I got this list off the internet...not having food storage because it's too expensive is a cop out...Walmart sell a lot of their can items for less than a dollar a can...pick up a couple of extra cans from time to time and you'll be surprised how fast it'll add up...I'd rather be prepared and have nothing happen then have something happen and not be prepared...
It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.....
If you're worried that something will happen if you prepare, won't you look foolish if something happens and you're not prepared?
I don't want to look foolish... 🙂 If you have that mentality, then why buy insurance? *crazy*

I got this one from a coworker once...
There will always be a restaurant open somewhere!
Sadly we have neighbours that eat mac and cheese 4=5 times a week, not by choice. They both work, they own their home (with payments) have 2 kids and a dog. They are not spending beyond their means, simply put they don't make enough with both working. They have shown the wife and I a few spending tricks that we would have never thought of.
I can see where "we" don't understand "them" but folks reality is with the cost of life some just can't do it. I will assume here for a minute we all do fairly well.
I would say those that just don't have any extra at the end of the month is at least 25% of the population. WHY they don't is where it can get muddy.

I know one person that does not have enough money to buy groceries. Mind you this person has enough to go to the casino, get their hair & nails done, go to the show, buy junk food, etc. I will no longer let this person in my house. The last time I did she took stuff home that I had purchased for her to drink/consume while she was here. She doesn't realize that by just changing a few things she might have the funds to buy groceries. Even kraft dinner is more then she has in her home.
And thats why we reserve our charitable efforts for the working poor. Those who bust their butts but are not making it through no fault of their own. It doesn't take long to figure out whos who. We try to find ways to help them help themselves. There are still people out there who deserve a hand.

Life is about choices. The woman you know isn't poor. She is someone who has different priorities than most. By "helping" her you are enabling the behavior. Nothing more. I applaude your decision to keep her at arms length.
Thanks JAB some days I feel really guilty.
Just remembered another reason why not to prep. Some of my co-workers believe the only way to eat healthy nutritious foods is to shop every day on their way home from work. No canned, dried or frozen foods for them. Strangely none of them have veggie gardens just flower gardens.
