Anyone know where I can buy wool or good winter clothing.

Wool blankets as well. The Hudson Bay blankets cost a fortune.

For blankets I would check thrift stores. The one I volunteer at gets a couple a week. Priced usually between 4-15 bucks. Mostly double size. For new blankets try Macausland Mills in Nova Scotia. Online ordering available.

I've been trying to find reasonably priced wool pants for awhile now - I think my opinion of reasonable is very different from the marketplace!

All,

You may want to checkout The Sportsman's Guide. Just type the name into google. Then checkout their military surplus area of their website. They sometimes carry surplus military wool blankets and wool pants. From many different sources - Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungry, etc. etc.

A little off topic, but I recently purchased gaiters from The Sportsman's Guide. They were surplus from Switzerland. They must have been war stores, the gaiters do not appear to have been ever used or issued. I got 5 pairs for less than the price of one new pair at Mountain Equipment Co-op.

Hope that helps.

Mountainman.

I have to say DITTO on second hand stores for wool blankets. When I do my usual scope of a SHS the blanket section is a must. I collect them not just as blankets but also to put over windows as winter insolation . In extream cold or you losing your heat, place them under you as well as above on the bed. I usualy pay 3-5 dollars

I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.

I regularly see wool blankets at Value Village. Also, the military surplus store in Calgary here has the US issue wool blankets at $30 a pop plus they carry wool shirts and wool pants. A great investment really.

No matter how good or bad your life is, wake up each day thankful because someone somewhere else right now is fighting for theirs
