Hey all, Nothing to give for advise!
Very bad storm year 2019. Lost a well pump to a lightning strike a few weeks before we had all roofs damaged. Horse shelter battered. I ended up claiming for both the lightning and the hail, at which time they no longer wanted to provide me with insurance(lol). It turned out ok as our new insurer is slightly cheaper than what we were paying. Oh and my solar panels that were placed on a roof were small ones on the small chicken/goat duplex barn we made of an old shed. They are easily reachable. Those panels are my barn lighting and open and close my chicken coop door when im working and cant keep them safe at night.(SHIFT WORKER!) The chickens learn quickly when the door shuts!! The door has a 'oh shite' OPTION....it opens one last time for about 30 seconds before finally shutting.

Don’t have chickens but your oh snap alarm is hilarious and glad you are making it work, sorry to hear about damages but at least it’s covered!

Jumping into the solar power arena.
Starting with the bus. Have 450 watt renogy panels and 1 lithium renogy 100Ah battery now.
looking at another battery in November..... 950 bucks a crack is steep.
With the battery technology they have now and a little care they will out live me.
As the battery bank and solar panels grow over time hoping to power the house someday. But for now
get the bus set up enough to go without plugging in at camp sites. I don't rough it anymore.
Most I need for the bus is 800 watts and 3 100Ah batteries for my needs.

Yes, the price is a kick in the nutz but the performance lessens the pain. Like you say "With the battery technology they have now and a little care they will out live me" that makes the price worth while in the long run and the main reason I switched to them. One more battery for me and I will be at 12kwhrs storage.

Been purchasing solar equipment for the bus conversion from plugin camping to solar camping.
Main control panel is almost wired.
Will post pics of main power board soon.

Main list of equipment.

Renogy 2000 watt inverter ....will us a 800 watt one at night ,uses less amps in standby mode.
one battery bank 400 amp hour lithium
one battery bank 200 amp hour lead acid (came with bus) as backup
Renogy 400 watt solar panels.
40 amp Renogy mpt charge controller

main power draws will be

12 volt compressor freezer (20 litter) 24 hours
12 volt compressor fridge (50 litter) 24 hours
coffee maker 650 watts 15 min a day
ice maker 800 watts 30 min a day....this is the big power draw.
water pump,tv,lights very little draw.

ran 12 volt compressor freezer and fridge for power usage test.
100 amp lithium battery will run fridge for 4 days.......no solar
freezer run 3 days with no solar on one battery.
may have to cut back on ice for drinks from ice maker and use freezer ice cubes.

I should be good camping July 1st even if there is no sun (if the government lets me into Ontario parks)

2 hour job I thought, turns into 5 and still have not hooked up main cables to batteries 😳
or wired in AC outlets with resets.
Still have battery box to make and inverters to place near batteries.
Done for the day .

Added my last battery this week...total of 6 lithium 100 amp batteries.
Wired in a 40 amp DC to DC charger.
Wired in a second charge controller. (one would not handle 750 watts of solar)
It seems it never ends..... all the wiring.......think I am done.
Batteries have been removed for the winter
