Greetings,

Bin Lurking these forms for a little while. Now that I now there are no foil hats from the valley, well at least none on the forums anyway. I thought I would say hi and join in. Just started prepping for whatever and have really found the forum very helpful. Thanks so far.

Ph

Hi and Welcome

Found any cheap stuff around the Valley yet? I've been stockpiling the Tin Foil but I don't have any decent Hat Patterns yet!

Dandy & Wookie - I picked up a Nesco Dehydrator at Home Hardware for $49 so I'll let you know how that works out for us. So far the kids have eaten everything I've been experimenting on so my "Cupboard" isn't filling up any.
Dandy - I know I owe you a call as my requested "Thrive" agent. Just mental busy right now.

Keep up the good work - dolly and drew

Well lets see. I grabbed some ok backpacks from C Tire on sale for 50% off. They are of course not high end but good enough for bugout bags for the kids. We have barely started in our quest but it feels good to get something going.

I work 21 days in Alberta then I am home for 14 days. I have been worried that if something like an earthquake or whatever did happen, the odds are I would not be here and it may be tough to get home. I couldn't sleep at night knowing the ones I love would suffer do to lack of prepping on my part. And besides my gal looks pretty hot in that tinfoil lingerie. Thanks for the shout at us.

I noted that someone mentioned cheap perimeter security, everything from lasers to cheap home magnet switches that run on nine volt batteries. You can even use Vietnam proven snare wire and tin can with stones but the one I like that I use around my perimeter is the one you can't get at or see. They are homeade ground sensors that I made from shake alrms which you can find on any old vehicle that has an alrm hooked to it. Unlike the new chip alarms which reliy on sonic and ground breaking technology. A shake alarm is alot like a ground sensor. It works by movement which allows either a very light foil of metal or mercury to move into a contact, ie other metal causing an electrical trigger to your source audibal alarm. Hopefully within your confines. These boxes can be as small as a pack of cigerettes and are all metal and black. A simple diagnostics test will show you if it is working and ready to support your perimeter. by startegiclly placeing these boxes and running something like a cheap roll of military comms wire underground you have state of the art security. Power source is simple. 12 voly battery with trickel charge back up and secondary 12 volt battery somewhere away from exposure. Run you in power lines to all the access points and your rellay lines may all come to your audible. If you want , burry the boxes just shy of an inch under the soil or grass and remember to give yourself a breaker point or turn off switch when theres heavy, friendly traffic within your site. By installing a couple of cheap cameras inside the protected area you will be able to focus quickly to your point of interest. Remember you can get IR (infra Red) night cameras used for dirt cheap at Sally Annes or refurb computer shops with accessories. Little interest and some trial and error will have you trying things like mine setting your shake alrms to trigger on a spike to contact or creating something of an evassive wood platform with ball bearings to move around and trigger your device. Have fun with it and experiment.
