Well I have been watching the board and I would love to see more posting going on. I mean living in this valley at the location we do seriously dictates that we need to have a plan. If simply for moving to higher ground if anything. I'm begining to understand that there is more than alittle secrecy on the subject but we must come together. By forming regular meet ups we can mesh and bring different skills to the table and ( you don't nessesarily need to show your hand to everyone at the meeting. Lets use it to share ideas and brainstorm different scenarios.). I would think that once we get a few metings under our belts we would individually see whom in the group had similar visions and characteristics which compliment each other in times of need and generate bonds with others in the group and not nessesarily ALL in the group. These things( personal likenesses) will generate in time and all the while EVERYONE learns new skills and expands their own personal repetior of skills and planning for thier immediate families and situations.

With that being said I'm willing to set a date and time for a meeting in the Sardis area on the 7th of January at the Tim Hotons on promontory. I will have my wide brimmed Tiley hat on and a 1 month old beard on my face lol. I'm not hard to spot as a guy whom looks like I'm ready to go camping ( no Calvin Klein here I myself am looking at all options and scenarios in which to prepare my family. I would leave this very first of meetings quite relaxed with no agenda for the first few or so depending on how many we can be and hopefully we can get at least a few of us to come together with a little direction after a time or 2.

I'm looking forward to this and hope to meet some like minded folks for a coffee and some chit chat

CHEERS!

Sounds good, I'll add the date to my calendar. We live out in Rosedale. Don't know if the wife can make it but I'll be there for sure. No hat just grey hair. Your talking about the Timmy's by Overwaitee right?

Well I'm pretty easy and I can do Saturday the 5th if that works for others? We can decide to change if there are more that feel the same. Hope to see some others chime in here as well. How about you Jimy would Sat evening work for you? Like I say we can keep it pretty light and meet each other. We can keep this time open for a few more posts and nail down one of these two days whichever works better for most. We can make a final decission by the weeks end so if you know others that may be interested please tell them about the meet we cant have too much input at these early stages so the more the better.

YES the Overwaite Save On Timmies on Promotory Rd Jimy. You got it!

If those whom are interested would please check back by weeks end on Fri we can decide what's the better day for most and call it.

Thanks for chiming in folks and I look forward to meeting you all.

Awesome sounds good Chevy, Jimy. Hopefully Jefft78 can make it.

Iv never been to any meetings. Never headed up a group for anything unless it was supervising for work purposes so if anyone has some insight to how to begin and open things up it would be appreciated. I figure just a happy meeting between us can get the ball rolling. I'm looking forward to this as well for sure and glad at least a couple of you would like to take part.

Well, I am not saying this so as to head anything up, but perhaps we could use this particualr thread to introduce ourselves a bit and what and or why we are doing this. Just so as we get a feel for each other.
If you'd all prefer to do in person as opposed to online, that is good too...just an idea.

I look forward to meeting everyone and hope we can get some good dialogue and idea's swapped around.

Cheers

Oh, and ps I will be the one without the beard, couldn't grow one to save my life...but I suppose that just may be tested at some point in time.

Good point Chevy its great to get a jump on it as far some basic info.

I myself am prepping for whatever may come our way really. The fact we live in this valley and the high stakes that come with it durring any numerous catastrophes that could plausably happen has me prepping. Number one concern on my list is the fact that we are practically sea level with mountain ranges to the South and North of the valley has me slightly worried. couple hat with the Pacific Rim issues, astrology findings, and national defence issues, I won't fib and tell you I'm looking only at certain scenarios I will say I'm looking at ALL. With all scenarios I believe at some point the Fraser valley will have to be left behind again for numerous reasons. This is the foundation of my prepping. If I have a bug in situation I feel ill be ready to hit the road pretty quick. I have a remote location chosen and skills that will be helpfull for providing shelter. Once agin I'm exploring many possiblities NOT impossibilities. I'm also looking into a remote location here locally in our surrounding mountains here in case we can't even leave the Fraser Valley. I'm looking to develope (or fall into) a cohesive group with a well thought out plan. This is the ultimate goal at hand. I'm sure there are like minded folks out there and there are so many different roles to play come the time that a basic structure and plan must be in place. Iv had MY plan for sometime but others must have great info and qualities to share that no one person or family can do well without the help and support of others. Always support in numbers I say but the key is developing the propper connections. Afterall this is a SHTF scenario and I for one don't plan on taking it too lightly when it comes to the health and welfare of my family as I'm sure others will say the same.

In a nutshell I'd say that covers it for me at this time and I look forward to meeting those of you whom come out to chat. 😀

Well, about me, I am unsure what I am prepping for other than to prepare for whatever comes our way that is logical in sense. Firstly an earthquake which is main concern, than any number of other events like pandemic, other natural catastrophy's, etc...I am unsure if I have much conviction on conspiracy theories involving government, and the state taking over, etc..not too concerned in the nuclear attacks, though that said I could potentially see biological and or terrorist issue's happening.
Don't take myself as an alarmist, but don't judge others for their specific beliefs either, as I say, anything is possible I guess, and each there own on whatever drives them, as long as folks are preparing to take care of there's, and possibly other like minded folks.

We have a BOL, that if something goes amiss, we hope to get to if required, and have backroad maps for alternate routes, spare fuel, and have explored quite a few area's on our atv's etc for alternate routes.

I also have a decent stock of foods and water, as well as other gear, and can take care of ourselves from a security stance, but with that said, am in favor of some sort of gun control (usually not a welcome view in our circle's), in the US...I think Canada has pretty good controls to ensure these items are in check in some way, but the US is a scary place, and not just because of the weapons per se, but the access so many have to so much...I know it is people that kill and not guns, but cannot subscribe that in today's world we need such intense firepower. As well some folks mentality when it comes to guns is so closed off that they do not even see another option...but I guess I am going a drift here, as that is for another day.

I am interested in meeting others and sharing of idea's and plans to help out in an event, and hope that as we move along, others that join can make a strong group of folks with skills, and supplies, but even moreso, common sense, which, as we know is largely absent in today's world.

I am a jack of all trades and expert in none, but am pretty successful thinking outside boxes and fixing things with what I have available. I am versed pretty well in the outdoors, and consider myself to be an avid atv'er, fisher, hunting, woodworking, builder and a lot of other skills in the outdoors that have been put to the tests over my 45 year life. My family is also very capable people with handling themselves, though I would not put my wife down as a prepper, though she accepts my interest and even appreciates that I take our personal safety so seriously.

Anyway, enough of me, I am about to be off for 9 days vacation to our cabin (BOL) for an old fashioned family Christmas till after New Year's, where we will clear a skating rink on the lake, do some ice fishing, snow shoeing, and generally freezing our bums off up north while sitting around a snow surrounded fire pit, where once again my 9 year old son will practice his fire making abilities with a striker, and much collected small dry timber...

Till we chat again, be safe everyone, practice a new skill, and most of all enjoy the holiday season surrounded by those you care about most.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays,
Chevy55

Hi:

Interested in the meeting. So, I seemed to have missed the conclusion to the question - what day is it? Will it be Monday Jan 7 or Saturday Jan 5? I can do either.

Tks

SafeHaven

Reading back on Screedcrete last post its says:
So the date is Sat Jan 5th at 7pm

I thought to try to sneak down for it, but we are having storm after storm here. So might not make it there at this time of year. Besides I have critters to look after so night meets are not good for me either. Chores ya know. 😉
Thats why I have not spoken up yet.

Good luck all, in your meeting and safe travels.

Yes just to confirm the date it will be Sat Jan 5th at 7pm

As I mentioned Iv never hooked up with any others or had any sit ins or meetings of any kind on this subject as I never knew how to connect with others. I went with some other constructive advice in the fact if you havnt been fortunate enough to have attended a meeting for reasons of there hasnt been any meetings "one might just as well initiate one " So thats the reason behind this for myself. Ill also be watching for other GTG's in my area.

Looking forward to meeting you all
