There is an article in my little local newspaper I thought I would share parts of it with you to get your input.

Looming food crisis

The united nations food and agricultural organization released the news that food prices are the highest they've ever been and they're going to get higher.

The un, world bank, and world trade organization all proclaim a worldwide food crisis is imminent for 2013 and the years ahead.

We are now one year away from global food riots complex systems theorists a Cambridge university say.

Some 46 million people in teh US are on their food stamp program. While Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA has ordered a 7000 per cent % increase in survival meals. What do they know that we don't?

People will be hard press to maintain their food budget due to price hikes and spikes and unless they grow their own food or can get it from the farmer down the road they are going to be facing shortages and hunger.

BC imports more than half of it food , 80% of its vegetable and 70% of its fruit according to some sources.

Article from 100 Mile Free Press June 12,2013.

Makes me even more determined to build my greenhouse and sharpen my fishing skills.

Fishing, hunting and gather skills and domestic livestock husbandry on whatever scale suits your land . And despite that adopting a home grown plant based diet perhaps. When there are those who work for this , and those who do not , it is also time to think about security .

Yeah, this is scary stuff. Gotta plan now, perhaps with the attitude that we have about six months max to be ready? That way, even if it takes longer we will be ready. Yikes! 😯

Very true indeed. You carry your knowledge and your skills with you wherever you go and no matter what happens.

On-going for the past few years, and primarily caused by a combination of problems: peak oil, global warming, and economic crisis.
