Heya,
We will be having a weekend meetup October 11,12,13 Friday, Sat, Sunday, at Cogburn Beach Recreation Site (That's at km 21.5 on the east side of Harrison Lake). This is Thanksgiving Weekend. Come on out and visit, or participate in the campout. Want to practice your bushcraft skills? Meet some of the members? Use it as a staging area for a 'back in the woods' hike? See what everyone else has in their bugout bags? Want to toss some ideas around? Simple bugout food recipes? Do some networking? Find out where people are getting their prepping supplies? or, just put a face to the people you see posting on IPN? This is the opportunity, even if it is just a visit.
Come out for the day, one night? two nights? a month? (You'll probably be alone for most of that). Personally, I plan on setting up camp on Friday, and chill out until Sunday. Monday I'll be feasting on dead bird. I also plan on doing a bit of beach cleanup while there. You never know what you will find walking down the beach. Last visit netted a tent, a wardrobe full of clothes, tons of tent pegs, paracord, inflatable toys (kids toys not adult toys), and a forest of tent poles (some were carbon fiber looking units).
For those who have never been here, it is drivable, and simple, to get there. Washrooms (if you can call outhouses, washrooms) are available. Camping is directly on the beach, and parking is in parking lots and beside the road.

Well, you know I'll be there, especially as I coming to enjoy your wife's cooking for Thanksgiving dinner.
On the plus side for those that want to camp out, I am bring spare camping gear: two extra tents, three extra sleeping bags and water - lots of water. I won't even mention the other spare stuff I am bringing.
Looking forward to this year's outing again, Preppersaurus.
"Dumb-a$$", eh?
We'll see ....

Heya singledad,
Everyone is welcomed. Family members are a fundamental reason why we plan for emergencies. We plan for their safety. These weekend get togethers are a great opportunity to help teach them some bush skills, socializing, and get to know people who may prove to be key, should there be a need for help. Come for the day, or for the weekend. If you need information contact me directly by PM. Not sure if any site fees apply this late in the season, they didn't last year at the same time.

Sounds like Screedcrete might want to use one of GPRS' a tent. But I must say, your (Sceedcrete) hammock exploits were entertAining to say the least, at the last weekend GTG. You might want to try those Hennessy hammocks Screed, much nicer than a 10 peso Mexican day napper. D is working on a custom tarp to hide under in case of excess West Coast Condensation (rain)

You are more than welcome to use either of the spare tents I'm bringing, screed(crete).
p.s. I'll also have a couple of tarps too, just in case.
Didn't have to pull them out this past weekend, but I tell ya, I was glad to have them handy with the drizzle that started after I pitched camp.
The damp and cool BC northern interior was interesting. I'll show pictures later at the Thanksgiving wknd BO / GTG.
NOTE: I was camping for the weekend at Robson Prov. Park. The campground is now closed for the season (Sep 30), but it is a really nice area.
The park is probably a 7 hour drive from you, Preppersaurus, since I figure Blue River as being the half-way point between you and me.

Is this a rain or shine weekend?
I am thinking about coming out for a night. I will bring real camping gear tho, and just practice setting up an emergency shelter. Lol May bring my son too.
Is it actually supposed to SHINE? LOL I'll be going regardless. Mind you, if it is pouring all weekend, I might sit in the truck for a bit. My wife might override that!! But, I am game. Will probably bring some snow gear as well.

I will actually be bringing rain gear and a couple of extra thermal layers too. Just in case ....
I remember how fickle the lower mainland weather can be.
NOTE: starting this time of year, I never go anywhere without an extra heavy jacket, i.e. Goretek shell and zip-out lining, and other back-up gear with me.
P.S. For those that have never used Bear Spray, I picked up a can of the Inert Trainer spray yesterday.
So, we can practise with it and exchange info on many other topics when I'm there.

gPRS,
We got snow on the Hope/Princeton a few nights back, and some on the connector to Kelowna, so expect it. I'll be loading up on firewood, and gas/oil for the chainsaw.
It's a perfect time to try bugging out in possible 'adverse' conditions. Did you get your big straps for your hammock? If not, you can get them at several places down here. Might have to improvise, but then, that's what its all about. Not sure how many people will be showing, some have commited, so you might want to re-think bringing too much extra gear for people who won't show up, due to rain.

Lol. Sure not going to tell you about my fear of weinerdawgs, Screed!! I'll never hear the end of it. Lol

Be good seeing you too, screed(crete).
Preppersaurus; I'll still be bringing what I have planned. It's part of the plan, ya know.
Plus, I was thinking of leaving some more stuff with you - if you don't mind.
As for the snow ..., well, I guess I'll just have to hope for better weather but accept whatever shows.
Snow around the Hope/Princeton route and Kelowna connector doesn't worry me so much, as I won't be driving those areas. But as I've seen the last couple of weekends in the mountains out near Jasper and Robson, the snow is coming in now at the higher elevations. I have to just hope that since my route on through to Kamloops is at lower elevations, I won't have to worry about the snow - yet. The Coq' will be another story.
Edit: Yes, I got some additional straps. You can have a look at them after my arrival.
YAY! Only three (3) more days of work till l get my week off for this trip.
I'll be on the road to your place, Preppersaurus, early Wednesday Oct. 9. Expect my arrival between 7 and 8pm.

gPRS,
Cache what you need to cache. We have the space. Watch for black ice, especially if you run into fog in the mountains. Tis the season.
