At 10:00 a.m. on 26-January-2011, thousands of British Columbians will "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" in The Great British Columbia ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in Canadian history!
According to TheProvince.com .. "By the morning of the drill, Heather Lyle director of integrated public safety for Emergency Management B.C said they expect up to 350,000 people to be signed up. “This is going to be the largest (earthquake) drill ever in Canada’s history,” she adds.
More than 450 schools around B.C. are signed up for the event. Many businesses, government offices and public utilities are participating in the exercise.
The date of Jan. 26 was chosen as it will mark the 311th anniversary of the day the 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit B.C.
