I guess it's polite to introduce yourself before joining in discussions! I'm pretty new to the online prepping "community" so when I just found this board today I immediately joined. I live in BC, somewhere outside of the lower mainland. 😀 I've been small-time prepping for a while, though really for a long time as my parents were when I was at home. My dh (dear husband) is not on board yet, though I have been dropping hints quite a bit. I'm married with a bunch of kids still at home. We're in a residential area as that's all that was available when we moved here. We would all like to move out into a rural area, though.
I do a lot of canning and storing, and enjoy finding produce by gleaning or super-cheap to preserve. I also found an older Excalibur dehydrator second hand this winter (score!), so that is going to be getting a good workout this year. I have a little garden, and always gardened at home growing up, but I don't seem to have a very green thumb, which is frustrating.
I am a reader and for a month and a half now have been running searches on Amazon every day for free prepping style ebooks, fiction and non-fiction. (Independent authors/publishers often put their books on free promotion for 24 to 48 hours, but you have to catch them in that window.) Actually I've been checking longer but 1.5 months ago started posting them on a blog I opened for the purpose so I could share them. Is there a place here for listing resources like this ? It takes me up to 2 hours a day to do it so I'd love to have it available to people (I don't benefit from that). Would I be allowed to post the link or maybe the name of the blog where I post them every day? BTW you don't need to have a Kindle because you can download Kindle for PC or Mac, and the Cloudreader, you can read the Kindle books with one of those. I don't have a Kindle myself.
I am going to fade back out a little and do some reading of the forum for a few days, and learn a bunch about prepping in BC.
(Do most of you stick to the BC board or go to other country boards or the main board? Just trying to get a handle on the best way to get started here.)

If you are into reading, and can open PDF's on your reader, do a google search for free PDF books or free PDF military books and you should find a few sites that have some titles you may enjoy. On the main Canadian Preppers pages Denob posted a link to an online place that has a lot of e-books. Poke around, you will find it.
