Ok how many of you believe that being frugal and prepping go hand in hand?

I keep all the bags from cereal. Use it to store stuff in the freeze...no freezer burn..so far.
I take cheapy plastic bags and a portion of meat (or what have you), into them.
Then into the wax cereal bags. Again they are still reusable. 🙂

Had this little discussion with a friend of mine.
She says why not use the paper off the roll?
I said, why when I can reuse this, leave the new stuff for when I have no more waxed cereal bags? Waste not want not. 😉

I use paper feed bags as mulch to keep weeds down, sometimes I use them in the bottom of a new bed.
That's just two examples of many.

So what do you do to be frugal?
Look forward to hearing other's ideas.
We might even help others to save a buck or two along the way, of course to throw at more prep items. 🙂

A sense of humor is absolutely essential to survival.

OTG you are right they do seem to go together but I they are not necessarily tied together. If I had an unlimited budget I think I would be a lot less frugal. 😀
On the other hand most preppers are big into recycling.

They absolutely go together!!! Learning how to be self reliant is the most frugal thing you can do and that is the heart of prepping. Being able to provide for you and yours in any circumstance is what being a Prepper is all about. Living frugally allows you to learn how to take care of your needs without breaking the bank. Think Hunting, fishing and gardening.

That's my two cents.

Yeah...hunting....I pay about 50.00 a pound for my vennison when I factor in permits, ammo, other gear and fuel. My significant other begs to differ on the frugality of hunting...lol.
Maybe I should just buy a cheap million candle power spotlight. Now THERE'S frugal!

My mom always had a plastic milk bag hanging on the kitchen faucet to dry out after washing, never threw out a sour cream tub after using just once.
She never threw away anything that "was perfectly fine to use once more".

OK well all this talk about re using bags I have to pipe up about what I have been doing with mine. I like the Costco chocolate chips that come in a 2kg bag with resealable top. They are thick and strong. I save these and other resealable bags for our bug out bags. They are used as individual dry sacs for all items. Just think trudging around with your pack (your lifeline) in the pissing rain for a time? Would'nt take but more than a few hrs or a failed stream crossing attempt to make your pack not only worthless, and in most situations its going to suck up another 10lbs of weight which no one is going to do well with.

I use the sealed bags to seperate and compartmentalize all my BOB stuff allowing them to stay dry. Just imagine finially finding a rocky outcrop to get out of the elements make a fire and regroup. At least now you have dry gear, supplies, first aid and more. Living in a rainforest with your life on your back could be a very hard way to go for sure. Im trying to keep everything dry. I also have large resealable dog food bags that can hold the bulk of the bags contents but I like going with the multiple bag system as things can be removed from the pack and set aside in poor conditions to get to other stuff in the bag without rooting though it all to get to something on the bottom.

Being sealed tight I bet i could even swim a river crossing with it on and have peace of mind my gear is in good shape.

Thats what I have been doing with my resealable bags.

Good post 😀

Whatever tomorrow brings,… I will be there! 😉
