I am from central BC, not the lower.
Give yourself some time to look around, participate in some of the blogs, people will intro them selves as they feel comfortable.
But ... realize your first step to being prepared was the decission you already made, that you should be, now it is just figuring what you need to do, what you can do and what you can afford to do.
Things I say are my opinion, which is like belly buttons everybody has one.
Anything I say is not meant to anger or offend just to encourage discussion between adults.

We are in Mission. Best way to get started on your trip to Prepperville, is to get a bug out bag. There is tons of information on what to put in your bug out bag. However, if you were to do a Google search for ....oh let's say........"must have things for my bugout bag" .... you will end up with 10,000 people's top 10 items, which will be different from person to person. You will need a truck to haul everyone's mandatory 10 items.
My wife and I started with a simple 'Get Home' bag, for each of us, Then, we put bags in both of our vehicles. Then, we set up 7 day bags, .... see how it escalates? Start with the bug out bag, and work on your Emergency Plan, then Plan B, then Plan C .... hehe

You've Got To Be Tough, If You're Going To Be Stupid.
Hello and welcome to the site. Im a Yarrowite that is on the preppers pace. We have a few that get together in our neck of the woods and would love to have you at our next get together if you feel like sharing and generally chewing the fat about preps. We try to have fun with a not so fun topic and you are more than welcome to join in the fun and come on out to our next meeting. We have a mix of male and female folks and we have some strong avenues on numerous topics that we can share with you. Bottom line is,... begining is the right course of action and as Preppersaurus said one thing leads to another and its a game of self preservation. Hooking up with like minded folks will put you well ahead of the game and keep you focused on whats right for YOU and your situation/concerns. Having a plan and a team in which to see things through will give you more than just piece of mind,.... it will give you ideas, plans, projects, and feedback but best of all it will give you an avenue to get some of your concerns out to people whom wont roll their eyes or try to contradict what you say.
