I am concerned about being prepared. Nothing in particular I am just concerned I am not prepared for anything. Is there anyone in Nanaimo who hosts a group or is looking to start a group to prepare?

Thanks for the welcome. I am just in the beginning stages of planning. Would be a lot easier if I were filthy rich 🙂

Yes! Prepping takes money and time , especially money. Just do a bit at a time. Whatever you can afford.

hi from the mainland, prepping doesnt have to cost a fortune. Some of the most basic preps i have found were in dollar stores, walmart discount bins, value village..... and my clothes dryer at home( im talking about saving my dryer lint to use as fire starter) yes, i totally agree that the more money a person has the more you can buy, but on a limited budget, it can be done, and you may surprise yourself what can be found in a dollar store. just my two cents, happy prepping

True that! I just traded my SKS for a Ruger 10-22 Take down. Sweet rifle, and the 22 ammo is sooo cheap!

My family and I moved from the US to Vancouver about 7 years ago. We started prepping after the 2008 financial crisis. What we ended up doing is exactly what the word means "prepping". In the last 5 years we've accumulated a fair inventory of sustainable items for our personal survival and well being during any condition with the exception of nuclear. This includes your basic FSW - categories of Food - Supplies - Weaponry. Instead of a being in a rush to accumulate, we prepped our initial FSW inventory for each individual, then started building from there by strictly budgeting no more than $200 per month dedicated to our planning and expansion of our FSW inventory. We basically cut out dinner outs (except for special occassions) and other unnecessary expenses that we were able to redirect for these means. Prepping does cost time and money depending on your overall starting point - the plan, the action, the number of people and what type of preparation you are focusing in on: land based fixed, mobile land transitionary, or marine evacuation. Good luck and keep on planning and prepping!
