I looked around for any emergency preparedness workshops happening in BC and found a few. I imagine that most of them will focus on preparing for 72 hours. I also found a pdf about "prepare in 26 weeks" http://www.pep.gov.bc.ca/hazard_preparedness/26_Weeks_2007.pdf which might be helpful in getting someone new to prepping started with their 72 hours kits. Every city has an emergency preparedness department so there might be some events that aren't advertised on the internet but only in the local paper.
