No, I am asking if you are in an Urban atmosphere. I would think that may help in recommending a book.

Preppers Pantry by Anne Lang about $15 on amazon.ca

http://www.backpackingchef.com/index.html has some good ideas on how to dry foods and for $5 will give you access to all of the recipies as well

What about the numerous free PDF's that are available on any topic you could name? There are links throughtout this forum to some really good sites - pick and choose what you want and it'll only cost for paper and ink for your own copy. Happy hunting!

hey duffman i just bought the book "back to basics, a complete guide to traditional skills" this book was originally published by Readers digest in the mid 70's i think. Great book, covers just about everything( canning, quilt making, meat drying etc etc.) the book is over 400 pages, tons of pictures to explain each topic. I paid $15 at Coles book store.

Welcome to the wonderful world of canning!
With a water bath canner you can also can tomatoes and fruit like peaches, pears, applesauce...
If you need some reference material you can download the USDA guide to home canning from my old blog site here...
