😈 Recently on both the American and Canadian prepper forums I have noticed the keen desire for people to try and commune and bring together their skills and knowledge to an innocent enough cause towards survival. Through out History we have dealt with a Human ability or what is known as the Gatekeeper Syndrome. The ability of one person to use whatever skill, proffession, cult or Religeon to slowly and methodiclly breakdown its members through conscience and thought behaviour. In other word, the Alapha male has taken or self appointed itself to the group, one must understand that it is the integrity of that group that must never be broken. The underlying cause of someone trying to form the Group may not always be condusive to that of its members and if its members are slowly being taught to think they are a cause of the groups failures or not holding the hard end of the groups mission that they become subjected to severe and grueling punishment, either psychologically or physically. Whatever the Gatekeeper tries to do he will form barriers around himself to defend any outside interference, wether within the group or externally from Federal or Municipal Authorities, RememberDavid Koresh in Waco Texas. That is the point I'm trying to make. Was it religeous, was it survival, was it para military. The truth is no one person in David Koreshes group new what the actual agenda was until it was too late. My words come for free at no cost to you on this post but what I want the young members and especially the ones who have been around for awhile to be aware of this phenomena because no matter how innocent a commune may start one does not know the true real intentions of the self appointed, even if you've met them intimately. Preppers survival is very close to an elite unit, each member has to have a skill which is integral to the team and some members may have to double up on the skills lest one should be taken down. Learn the skill to think rationally and more so if you are going to form groups remain true to yourself and be in charge of your domain. Follow orders only once the MISSION STATEMENT has been agreed upon by all parties of the commune. By all concerns there should never be distention amongst the group to the point that one becomes self appointed. Foolow your mission statement and every day consider your operational roles as team members and that....Only that will keep you from falling into something like Guyana Jim Jones because their are egos in these posts belive me. If you have to go it alone or with family or ex members of a same team. PAX MOBISCUMB 😈
It means "Peace be with you"
Good post Waterborne....kinda reminds me of the Narcissistic personality type
FYI http://narcissistic.co/narcissistic-quotes-quotations-sayings.html
I'm sure we've all met one at some time in our lives......
Russell Coight....outback legend
CASE IN POINT!
Good points...we've been an island most of our lives and wish to remain pretty much the same when the SHTF.
I can't stand groups or committee's as there is always a power stuggle, I attended a meeting when a small local co-op was getting started and in the very first meeting they were writing down ideas on paper and they couldn't even agree on the best way to do that, when one fellow said "Now if you do it my way you will see that it is a far superior method." I cracked up laughing and left...the ego's were far to big and thus far too fragile for my liking. Everybody wanted something different, nothing could be agreed upon, and to cover the cost of all the demands was going to add so much to the goods you may as well buy retail.
I already have wholesale accounts with two suppliers so it was no loss for me to pitch the group...that are still bickering over everything, haha and this before the SHTF...what the hell will they be like after the SHTF???
this post was a good example of hitting the nail square on the head, well said!!!
Been my experience that when ever you have more than 2 people in one room you'll have a conflict of personalities. Short story. 4 yrs ago our club had a huge back yard that was nothing but a weed patch and dead grass. Some of the seniors with no yards living in apts. thought it would be fun to have a tomato growing contest with them reaping the harvest. Thinking it a fun idea my husband asked the head of the club. His anwswer was' over my dead body'. My husband returned outside to the group and they asked what the response was. My husband answered 'we have to dig the hole deep. The clubs back yard now looks like a beautiful park with flowers, green grass, corn, grapes, strawberries and yes tomatoes. Majority rules.
wow, that is awesome, and totally what i see happening as well. Your timing couldnt be better
Not sure why it has to be that way...you get a whole group of menenites/hutterites together (I work for a family of menenites and we are friends with them and their families outside of work (we do archery together as well)and they all just work together without issues...why can it not be that way?
You're reading only the negative. What is being said is to be aware of the sign and symptoms of Gatekeeper Syndrome. No where does it say don't do this or don't do that. Every member knowing the mission of the group and each having their roles keeps the continuity of the group intact and strong. The examples given are there as a reminder of what can go wrong when a Gatekeeper file if you will is given the power over the group or self appoints. In these times a Prepper or Survivalist group has alot of potential do do good but it has alot of potential to do wrong as well. Blind fath does no one in a survival group any good.
The promise of power or the face of fear are the tools of the Gatekeeper. In almost all of these cases the followers new in their hearts something was wrong but were a afraid to speak or act. Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither."
"afraid to speak or act." That in itself would be best described as the actions of those being either physically or mentally abused. Would you agree? Motivation can be generated as easilly as starvation can!
I agree with your entire post Waterborne.
👿 wow 😈
