just change to your city, it is fairly accurate and links to other info. It is not a proper forum etc, but as a Prepper or anyone who wants to survive in Canada, you had better learn to use this site.
I would like to suggest a blog I came across.I know it not Canadian as such, but the fellows resourcefulness in a smillar climate makes for interesting reading. The site is theaccidentalhermit.blogspot.com/ He has moved to town in his last posts but his earlier posts from years of living in the woods are interesting,or so I found.
the accidental hermit was very interesting reading. Thanks for link. I enjoy learning about people leading different lives that are out of the mainstream. Lots of ideas and, like you say, the climate issues are pretty familiar for us Canadians.
billyrubin,
Yes, it was interesting reading, I would like to have niebours like him. You could try canadiandirtbags.wordpress.com for closer to home interesting reading.Though my back starts to hurt every time I think about how much dirt they have shoveled.
manytracks.com ,and coyotecottage.com would be other interesting sites like the first to read.
Great blog Analog Man, thanks for pointing this one out.
I forgot there is one more interesting one, continuo.com. Though I do think he is doing somethings the hard way.
Ok,
the following is not Canadian, but full of Old Timer Recipies and such, downloadable pdf for us to look at

Old Recipe Books
for Basic Home Cooking
Good link, I actually did series of paintings around these issues in the late 90's ... 12-13 years later there is still not enough change happening, it breaks my heart.
Wilderness Return: cool site! Love these old time recipes and look for them. They always feature what you have on hand and veg that is found in season. I have my grandma's old battered Purity cookbook, 1927 I think and one of her old recipe notebooks from the 30's when they were living remote in a lgging camp. One of my favorite cookbooks was actually printed 10 years back by an elderly lady looking back on her life and recipes "The Prairie Kitchen Sampler...good simple wholesome recipes from pre-electricity on through.
Analog Man, another great site, am bookmarking this so I can dig into some more reading!
