Interesting , Thanks for the info
Cool thanks for sharing it here. Very informative info about hand signals.
Those look like Police tactical hand signals. NATO standard was a bit different.

I just found them on the web. We never had such hand signals when I served in the late 70's.
Well, we did have a few but they were not specific to the military and common folk had just revamped the definition's meaning of extending the middle finger to no longer mean "pluck hew" anymore! 😆 Seems alot of folks knew that one well as they often used it on us during our arrival and departure of which I took for a sort of hello and goodbye gesture too. 😯 (cause everyone loves MP's)!
It seems like a SWAT type since the arms is an MP5, shotgun probably a Benelli M1 90F with pistol grip & Glock probably a Glock17.
Looks like for an urban environment mission.
The vest upper three pouches is for Universal Pistol Mag / flashlight thingy.
Across the three pouches is usually for shotgun shells.
Regret comes last, if it comes early its called registration!
In the end, only fellow preppers truly respects other preppers.
When nothing happens, the world will laugh at you.
When SHTF, what will happen when they found out you got supplies?
You really want to be tactical-ninja? Make your signs!
The army and swat teams use standardized signs so that if you link up with another patrol or end up with being in a different team or whatever, you have standards SOPs (none of the signs being fisting to the elbow though).
Within your group, create your own signals as well as code words for identification, duress, etc. A duress code word is also very important so you don't end up compromising your team. Same thing as safe word, which should even be taught to kids at an early age (so if "mommy's friend" comes to "pick them up" at school, they know it's legit instead of a kidnapper).
I agree fully. I originally wanted the pics to use in forming my own hand signals. This was the purpose of the my search at the time.
It's funny how I can still go hunting with friends whom I haven't hunted with since our youth and see we have much of the same signals now as back when. I suspect this means that which we learned young has stuck with us even to this day. Yet when I hunt with someone new, we sometimes have communications issues that would never come up otherwise. This is often due to them having formed different habits of their own with their niche of friends. Now it's not often you have to rely totally upon hand signals alone but when you do, such as in stalking or flushing game, talking is not an option. Now I don't foresee showing another my age some printed pics such as this will make friends happy, but maybe designing a logical system so others will eventually adapt will help reduce such issues hunting too.
The funny one was a keeper because the pics were bigger to work with...seems collecting the pic was as far as I got with the idea though....
Why would one want to use common know hand signals? If you are part of a group that needs to communicate why oh why would you use common known signs? What if your being watched by others. They would understand if they could? Why not develop your own simple signals as you really don't need many at all. Its like speaking english in Canada and seems silly to me. Call me paranoid or whatever but incorporating known language when you want stealth is silly. 😆
Whatever tomorrow brings,… I will be there! 😉

I find that most animals are unfamiliar with these hand signals and so I don't worry much. 😀 (I know where your going with this...)
There are only a limited number of things a guy can use as clear signals using only one hand. These pics are simply a tool I offered to allow folks to do whatever they want with them, period. If you wish to create your own hand signals, go for it. And If you only want them to know what the enemies likely suggesting when they signal others, great! Me, I simply want to remember to cover all the things I should have mentioned before we started hunting so as to avoid confusion during the hunt. Haven't you seen TV shows where they argue about such hand signals? I have and I don't even watch TV much!(maybe it's cause I like the comedies though).
I can't imagine that the enemy would be in a situation to read such hand signals, but then again, I live in the bush and can't see that far cause of the trees. 😆 Seems I still figure most signals should be designed around hunting as this is where they most likely will be used first. If you need them for maybe hunting humans instead someday, they'd likely work here too as it's still hunting, but just where the critters might now shoot back! 😕
We could fully describe a site, locate and describe enemy assets, describe patrol routes, procedures & formations, RVs, ambush sites, fixed & rotary wing LZs, DZs & contact commands. I could readily communicate with my crew within viable line of sight. The number of discernible hand signals available is actually quite broad. Hell, once I used it to order a coffee at Timmies from a mate who was already in the line up.
