The oil price just keeps falling, mid 20s now, gas was 88 cents a liter has been seen at 66 cents a liter now. I think I just may go out and fill up every container I have. Then again I still don't see the bottom on the horizon, maybe I should wait a bit. Here is a interesting article. https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2020/03/15/putin-unleashes-strategic-hell-on-us/
My life goes on pretty much as normal these days, in fact my costs have dropped as I am not driving as much, so my fuel costs are way down. I think its going to be a long time before some type of stable normalcy is going to be found for many people.I do wish I was further along with electric transportation, My electric bike is nice to have for zipping around the local area, but I wish I had a electric motorcycle for the long trip to the big cities.
If you're buying them on sale then a good reply would be "I know, but not at this price!"
Had a few other responses but kept them inside. You can see the jealous, mightier then thou look on their mugs. This should get real interesting in the weeks and many, many months to come. Not looking forward to emergency measures act. Likely lead to ratting out neighbors because they drove their car on a day they were not allowed..
Well ladies and gents, it looks like many of the things we were intelligently preparing before will or may come to pass and test us all in ways we only imagined. True shame we are here, but here we are indeed.
went to renew antivirus from Norton. couldn't sign in, reset password three times and never could get in. on hold for FOUR plus hours now waiting for a live person, their internet chat is down. hilarious and just one more point of failure in millions occurring out there these days. I long since knew and predicted this collapse of tech support would occur. as more people get sick, the odds of the best people coming down with it increase and lord knows we need the good people around helping those who while having a job can hardly breath on their own. So once IT starts to fail, the work from home gig should collapse rapidly, then what will companies due to invoice out, shuffle documents around etc
shortage of work, one million just applied for pogey in one week, bombardier is axeing a few thousand shortly should be fun to see the gov handle that influx. "please hold, due to an unexpected call volume".....
this week will likely see another million join the UI lines.
one can only hope that the malria drug and other mixes, help nix this. the charts showing rapid growth are all coming true, so if it continues, i would expect near complete collapse of health system by the predicted first week of may. I am going with earlier then that date. maybe mid April
Article of interest.

I seen gas as low as 64 cents...I will be stocking up come the end of the month. I should check the price of Diesel it might be a good time to stock up on that too.
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Went to do some online investment banking fund transfers and wanted to call help line to get me into where i needed to go quickly. phone line said, sorry there is no service for that number. checked and number was ok, called again, same thing. called five minutes later and got hi welcome to xyz, then a pile of static and click. line went dead.
called bank and of course no human, leave a message, tried a few of the press this for that buttons and even that was all frigged up.
drove to bank and met manager, sorry, you self manage those funds and we can only transfer to them and not from them. call 1800 go static!!!
was on hold with Norton tech support for 6.5 hours yesterday trying to renew annual service. complete breakdown
Question for others, the googler is failing me despite my best attempts. I may have to go back into the big city next week. I have a dual canister respirator rated for vapor air born lead. Does anyone know if this is sufficient against cov 19? I should not have to ask on this but I have already spent 45 minutes trying to figure this out on the googler ..without a answer I can trust. If its not sufficient no biggy I can pick up something that is but I already have filters good for lead so I am hoping I can use them. Does someone have better google foo than I do ?
Also I have re- read this thread and kudos to Denob, Clarence, Prepher, morningcoffee, and Nagol for expressing serious concern as far back as January on this subject. I did not see the seriousness until near the end of Febuary. I mean I seen it, but I sure wasn't willing to stick my neck out on it, until there was more data. So for those who did early on this topic, I doff my hat to you.! Seriously.,

Do you have the make/model?
Interesting. I’d venture that the inadequacy would not be due to filtration, but through the handling on the respirator. I’d also. Entire that most trades people who have use those wear them in contaminated environment, walk out of the area, take the mask off, throw it back in the bag and carry on with their daily activities. This is why the respirator would be inefficient.
The only way I could see a respirator being useful would involve thorough decontamination before doffing. That would be assuming you are wearing gloves also and having a package of Lysol wipes or 1:9 bleach solution handy as you return home. While wearing the mask, you would have to wash your gloved hands with the solution to decontaminate them, then slather the outside with the solution so all areas remain “wet” for 5 mins. Avoid getting the internal parts of the filters wet! Then remove the mask. Change gloves and clean the inside. Let the mask dry thoroughly.
All this said, I assume you’re talking full face mask that’s been fit-tested on a clean-shaved face, right? Because anything less is not worth researching the virus size vs filter capacity.
Good article on bleach decon https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/covid-19-disinfecting-with-bleach . Note that bleach does lose potency with time!
I own both a 3M full face with multiple types of canisters as well as my military issued mask and at this point, I don’t see a situation in the near future where I’d use either.
I prefer the disposable type myself. The half face and full face masks have so many points of potential contamination that I wouldn't want to even attempt to clean them or change a filter cartridge.
Limited supply and expensive IF you find them I know, but still...
I dug around in the garage and found the package. It said P100, a 99.95% particulate filter. Im not thinking of wearing it for my protection as such, rather I am sometimes around people over 80 out here, and I do not want to be "that guy" who brings it out to them.

Then you already know the answer... visit from the end of their driveway. If you’re lending them a hand by fixing stuff inside their place, a simple disposable mask will keep even aerosol viruses on your side of the mask.
Here’s something for folks to noodle on. It’s from a study at MIT. No not from the WHO, who I consider worthless and just a talking head from China or telling people to take things seriously but never with any actual intelligent solutions like BANNING all flights!!! Back in January!

So if you have N95 ... masks, wear them and screw what the alleged experts yap about a six foot distance. They are only saying this to cover for the ineptitude of not having enough PPE gear in the first place.
The above info was known decades ago by some folks and so was the need for proper stockpiles and counter measures.
I have to give you the nod on this one.. I am stunned at the amount of people who have "limited" small personal amounts of masks, gear and so forth that are hearing the "donate them" .
I am not taking about large amount here, I am talking about the local tattoo shop that had bought a case of gloves and a case of masks for work etc. and they are bringing them over.. with the quote.. by the time you are going to be back in business, there will be lots to replace what you are giving..
I am sorry but if you have them in a small way (not a massive, selling them underground making a profit off them way) then keep them for your family.. because when they finally get their heads out of their hmmmm and start making lots, I am still not sure they are thinking of us..
The countries that "at least appear" to be doing better all have everyone wearing masks's when out and their govements give everyone a quota of masks.. and yet somehow here, we are told.. no no.. don't need them.. got them.. give them up!
Hang on to your hats this week folks.. we are about to just start to see the results of slack wishy-washy drip programs of slowing things down.. the numbers are going to start climbing, and they are still not doing real testing..

Sometime after the SARS scare, we bought a few 5 packs of masks, and to date, we have used a couple when stores were crowded. The thing is, with all the talk about how the public shouldn't be using them, will I become a target from those who buy into it all? I'm actually thinking I could get some blowhard actually trying to take a swing at me, or trying to grab it off my face. Trust me, tempers are starting to rise out there.
To farmgal. Trust me when I say, I really, really had to bite my tongue. The shear ignorance, lies, deliberate deceit etc is sickening. If not bad enough coming from again, supposed professionals we pay to manage things on our behalf, we have supposed professional/ doctors, telling us this garbage. Frankly, they should lose their jobs and have their licenses revoked.
I wish I can say more but I can’t
PS. Just watching CBC 10:00 pm news and got preview of quebec minister saying public doesn’t need them. The ignorance and arrogance is sickening
To Denob. If funny you mention that, when I wore my first mask the other week, I was expecting just that reaction and while I received some stares, nothing else. I did have an older lady wearing a mask ask me where I got mine and I said sars vintage 😀
Now, will the day come where jealousy takes hold and a smart person becomes a victim, I can se that and sadly, it will like
Y be backed by some incompetent official who due to stupidity, didn’t heed the reports true security and related professionals gave them decades ago! We may just become the target for anger from failures by others. So it will be wise to be careful out there.
