I had all of my gear ready to go and phoned friends and family to make sure they were awake and keeping an eye out. As far as I know everybody on the coast/Islands is fine. The North Island was evacuated to higher ground and after shocks of over 5.0meg was felt in that area. We have no warning sirens here on islands South end but let the people who live in there boats at the end of road know they should tune into the radio/a warning had been issued.

I live on the East Coast (where all my lovely prepper stuff is) but was actually out in Tofino at the weekend when the Evacuation came on. Needless to say I was still prepared. I loaded the car with water, etc - already had my flashlight in there - kicked off my heels and threw on my jeans and gumboots under my cocktail dress (That was particularly pretty!)
I grabbed a few of the Lodge rain slickers and headed off to higher ground. Thankfully it turned out to be nothing but it certainly was a great experience. Glad to say the panic was moderately controlled and I could still think - and run 🙂

Stay safe people... and consider a mini car kit / office kit. (You can guess what I'm prepping today, right?)

You are right!... It was a great experience and an important one. Really showed any weaknesses in plans or preperations. Areas that need to be worked on stood out and were amazingly simple fixes (personally). From what I could tell though thing went smooth with evacuations?
