Two CME's are destined to hit earth in the next day or so creating geomagnetic storms, solar radiation storms as well as radio blackouts...see NASA links below

Although these are not strong enough to kill the power grid, these events warrant our attention.
Luckily the solar storm originated from the solar northern magnetic pole, which will might do some disruptions but nowhere near if it were a south magnetic pole origination. A, S.CME is the type that could do major damage to our magnetic field and wipe out the power grid world wide or just who ever is on the side that the CME brushes. Such as the Quebec transformers in 1989. If you hear that Mexico is seeing the Northern or southern lights, well you better be well prepped for a 2-10 year power black-out. So says the Doomsayer. 😕

I suspect that a serious CME hitting the grid in the First and Second world knocks the planet back to about 1850 technologically. True, we will have laptops and solar panels but no internet. The Cme will burn out the transformers in substations. They will have be be rebuilt locally. I live in BC where we generate electricty. So we may be ahead of the curve. Here's a sobering if nihilistic outlook of what might happen. The second part of the thesis of the article; that Nuke generating plants will fail without electricty I don't support. Human nature would have those power plant engineers working heroically. But the first half is pure science and history.
Searching my email for something other than a flare or cme warning has become somewhat of a sport lately. Seems like the sun is putting out quite a bit of disruption over the past week or so. Again this morning a G3 warning. This solar maximum is supposed to last until 2013 - 2014. I think we may only be seeing the beginning.
Hopefully not the beginning of the end.

Alaska is seeing activity like its not seen for hundreds of years....couple of dorment volcanos rumbling as well...

Over 3000 records were broken last year for natural disasters. Now this year with the solar storms, tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes just to name a few, it looks like last years records are on track to be broken. Anyone get the feeling that maybe someone up there is trying to tell us something? Scientists are saying that it's happening all over the solar system, I don't know, I haven't been to any of the other planets this year so I'll have to take their word for it. To quote a line from the movie 2012 (Wouldn't it be galling to find out that the nutcases with the cardboard signs were right all along.) Damn those Mayans. Any one know where I can buy a good, quality floating, asteroid proof, survival shelter? It's gotta have cable and air conditioning.

The ExtinctionProtocol is one site I look at daily. The post about the sphere that looks linked to the sun was curious indeed. One NASA site I looked at said that it wasn't all that uncommon. The article explained that it was a plasma ball ejected by the sun and that the energy link was actually the sun reclaiming the plasma. I don't know (and probably wouldn't understand) the science behind it. NASA doesn't seem too worried about it, but it is curious.
Also check out another site called The Coming Crisis. They have all the posts the The ExtinctionProtocol has and more, they also update several times a day so they're actually more current.

This is an excellent prepper site, for it outlines what almost every one has said about what is essential to survive any major system collapse. Every one of us should visit this site, even if it is a brush up on what we know. It is NOT just about Solar storms, it is about survival.

I found that showing that site to my group last year really motivated them to be a little more serious about prepping. The thing about the site that ticks me off is the Solar Survival Guide. Most sites that include survival guides put them up and update as necessary. The fact that the owners of this site just keep saying the guide is coming but it never appears. It makes me wonder if they really even have a guide to begin with.
I keep looking at it though, just to follow the storm warnings.
