easy recipe to make oat milk
for lactose intolerant, vegans etc.
there is calcium in oat milk,
depending on type of oats used
1/4 cup of quick oats contains 10.5 mg calcium
1/4 cup of steel cut oats contains 20 mg calcium
(why old fashioned/rolled oats have none, i don't know, maybe it is in the way they are processed)
Oat Milk
- place 3/4 cup of oats in a quart mason jar
- fill jar about 1/2 with water
- lightly cap and let sit overnight (about 8-10 hours)
- pour into blender and add another 3/4 quart water
- liquefy and strain (i use a sieve) back into mason jar
- strain liquid once more (i just sieve it back into the blender)
- add whatever flavoring you desire (maple syrup, vanilla, honey, cinnamon, agave syrup, etc.)
- blend once more to mix in the flavorings
- pour into mason jar, cap and place in fridge (lasts about 4 days, a little longer with a good dose of cinnamon)
- shake before each use
i usually just use cinnamon and forgo the sweeteners and it tastes quite nice
And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her;
for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones,...
and slaves, and souls of men.
