I just recently got a book on it, but I haven't done it. I'm working my way through beekeeping, graywater systems and etc. then I'm going to do more research on aquaponics.

We'll have to get back to you on it. We're designing our system now and are planning on launching it this spring.

I have just gotten together some supplies to do a test run indoors using a fish tank, with a planter directly above it, and an indoor grow light.
When I have it all setup I will take some photos.

I am choosing to do it without the flood tank, and just have the water flow over the medium bed, and just tilting the planters so they will drain into the tank.
But that is the basic idea of what I am trying to accomplish.
Doomsday Preppers, Season 1 Episode 1 has an extremely impressive example of aquaponics.

I think you could do it for much cheaper yourself.
The most important thing is ensuring that your full water supply is cycled every hour.
So I have a 140L tank so a 140LPH pump would suffice.

We were looking into this as well but we too many other priorities at the moment (of course) but I'm quite interested in how all of you are progressing. If you do purchase the Home Depot kit; be sure to post a review as well please!

I have been searching online for e-books on the subject. So far, I have been unable to find anything. Once I do, I shall put them into the archive of downloadable books.

I saw the 'doomsday preppers' episode with the aquaponics setup. Interesting episode. I was surprised that the guy showed his house and his neighbourhood in the episode. He might as well have installed a big flashing beacon on his roof to make sure everyone knows where to go when they run out of TP. Still, the aquaponics setup seems like a great idea. Now, just how would that work exactly here in Calgary or High Level or Grande Prairie? I suppose the entire thing would need to be an indoor setup, at least in the winter months.

What kind of fish would be best? What kind of plants would work best? What kind of monitoring would be needed?

Anyway, as soon as I find some ebooks, I shall put them up so everyone can get them.
