hey all....know nothing about gardening, however, this summer I'm hoping to get quiet a crop of peppers, brocolli, spinach etc... now Ive already started to germinate the seeds, the brocolli, spinach, beans, peas etc started to sprout within two - three days and are doing well...the peppers are showing nothing.... do they take longer or am i doing something wrong? they're on a flat, on a heat mat, well watered and it's quiet humid under the plastic see through hood....im goingt o add a light source this afternnon/ evening.... any ideas from tested gardeners out there?
Thanks in advance, Paul.
Peppers can take 7-14 days and hot peppers can take up to a month. I think you would be well served to be patient a little longer 😉
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband
thanks, that makes sense....the brocolli came in the next day, the beans a couple of days after that and the peas not long after that.....no sign of the peppers though.... 😀

'they're here'...planted on the evening of the third and they're just sprouting now...not bad, 5 - 6 days... 😀

Peppers are slow to germinate, be patient. One trick is to have your heat set at 80 degrees, for the peppers. Beans like it warmer than peas so I would wait to plant those outdoors. The only problem with beans is they are very eager growers, you can watch them grow! I had soaked pinto beans to make refried beans and a bunch of the little darlings sprouted. I couldn't bare to cook them knowing they so badly wanted to be bean plants so I put them in dirt and then into the ground. Too early here but most made it. Only lost about 10% to frost and cold. This is the earliest I have ever planted beans outside, but we really did not have a winter here. Keep on planting!

Seems kinda early to start planting some of those seeds. Unless you have a green house to plant them in or big containers. Tell us more.

ok then, I plant my peppers right around now, 10 weeks to planting them out in the garden may 24, there about. I start the tomato about 6 weeks back before the may 24 weekend and any things like egg plant, celery. I did already start a bunch of thing to see if the seed was still viable , so fingers cross, some of my saved seed are from 2001.
ok, so i can put these out may 24th....my hydroponics isnt close to being set up and it would be a shame to waste
