I have approximately 67 hills of potatoes so far. How many pounds of potatoes do you think I will have?
I prep for my daughters, for they are our future.

I prep for community. For in the long run each of us need one another.
depends on what kind of pototes you ae growing and the soil, but on average most commercial type even if heritage ideally go between 1 pound seed to 12 pounds harvest, I am growing spuds that said to be able to go 1 pound seed to 20 pounds return but I have never gotten better then 18 pounds yet..
so you need to look up what thetype you have average return is, figure out how many pounds planted in your 67 hills, plan if you are going to harvest for fresh eating in summer-early fall, hich reduces overall yield amounts and go from there
let us knowhow it goes, I have just over two hundred hills 🙂

I have planted white seed potatoes in half of them, so I know what I should approx get.. However my mother in law had purple potato seed that she brought over and we planted... Hard to know for those because the are 10th generation from the originals she bought.. If that makes any sense?

HI : I tried something different this year with potatoes . Fellow at Surgrain feed suggested it . 1 rake the ground clear of twiggs etc , Don't dig up the soil .. Lay your seed on the ground , cover with straw , When they start to grow instead of hilling up the soil ( traditional ) just add more straw ..
I tried this as we had just cleared the spruce and pine of the land the prevoious year and many larger stumps and roots still present .
I got pototoes in the fall , but very small .. which I attributre to 1.. lack of rain and 2. lack of sun only about 3 hours per day ... .This winter the plan is to clear more wood land and expand our gardening area ... Papa JOHN southern NB
