For those who are looking towards next years compost, here is a big chance to add to it. All those pumpkins the day after are usually trash. Those other people that are collecting them are going to use them for their still's, pumpkin mash has a lot of sugar in it plus starch, just add yeast and water, the mash they throw out, usually gets the wildlife drunk. The other trick is to add water, a bit of sugar (quick start) and yeast, inside of a whole pumpkin and let sit in a warm place for a while, or so I've heard, never tried it so.....

Tried that with a marrow, cut the top off, hollow out a bit of the middle, fill with sugar, replace the top and hang upright in an old pair of stockings with a bucket underneath to collect the alcohol as it drips out. The natural yeasts on the marrow and the moisture in the flesh convert the sugar into alcohol, marrow rum.

Or so it is claimed, unless rum tastes like mould I dispute the claims!

When I was a kid we went camping and someone put a whole pumpkin on the coals to cook whilst we went hiking...yep same thing happened, pumpkin on the cars, tents, chairs etc it went everywhere...so I can relate to your experience! 😀

OK now this site shows how to make pumpkin wine, brandy and beer. Any distilling after this point is your ...HIC... option.

Great...I would love to try it and see if I can run a water pump on it 😀
Cars are all diesels so it's no good there but all the smaller farm equipment is petrol!

Can't work too good - is it in the top part( Canada) or the bottom bit (USA) that they go 'Pumpkin-Chuckin??'
