Canadian Tire has a 425W 5-quart bowl Kitchenaid Stand mixer on sale (ending today) for $287 down from $499. I've wanted one for a while, but it's a lot to spend, even on sale. Does anyone here have one and how useful do they find it? I'm thinking about starting to make my own bread, and I make a lot from scratch, so I was also going to use it for dough for pizza, meat pies and pies, and probably baking.

They also have a 3-piece attachment set, reg $199 on for $99 and there's a $20 rebate (online I think). The set has a slicer, sausage stuffer, and grinder. Again, the sale ends today.

Thanks for the input.

I have one and it gets alot of use...Yesterday I made pie dough (for apple pie and meat pies) I made bun dough..2 days ago I made pizza dough...it is fantastic for as long as there is electricity...lol ..you will not find a better price!...I don't use those attachments but there are others you can purchase (I have a manual pasta maker but they have an attachment for it) so it is a good machine!...Also it gets all the dough in the bowl and so it is better than the cheap ones you have to spatula ingredients into the center.

I bought my wife one a couple of years ago and she says that she would not want to be without it.
It is a fantastic unit with a great many useful attachments that even I find myself working with it.
The price that you say Canadian Tire has sounds like a great one and personally, I would scoop it up in a heart beat.

I have the Profession 600, since we use them in class. Costco had them on real cheap, so it was a good birthday. It has good power, and can add on a bunch of different attachments. I love it.

I have the kitchenaid professional 12 cup mixer.
it works like a dream.
the only thing that bogs it down in the slightest is my 4 loaf bread recipe. but just take it slow and you're good.
I do everything in it.
