I certainly hope this is NOT a prepper.
Smuggled or illegal firearms is not something we should advocate.
I remind everyone to own, store, and use your firearms legally.

As for sounding like a prepper...well not in my opinion.
There was no mention of food, water, or other supplies stockpiled.
Other than several firearms, of which some were suspected of being smuggled into the country, there is nothing even remotely associating this find with the preparedness mindset.

I'm pretty sure there are lots of people in Canada who have weapons that aren't registered. The news article said smuggled, but he could have just bought them for himself, and never wanted to register them, so that they couldn't be confiscated. The article puts a spin on the situation by using words like smuggled, and military style to make it look as if they busted someone dangerous, which has yet to be proven that he is dangerous.

And why would they mention if they guy was storing food and other supplies, that would make him sound even less harmless. In my opinion, this could very easily be a prepper, even if he doesn't meet up with some people's standards. There are all kinds of different people in the world, and not one prepper stores the same.

I thought about this when I read that US authorities were going to Mormon canneries in the US, and asking for lists of the people who were storing food supplies. Just makes you wonder ...

It is indeed hard to tell with how the news spins thing these days. As far as we know the "military style" ones could have even just simply been Mossberg 22 tac, or Ruger SR22 style guns. Heck with the lack of a caliber mentioned some of these could have even been airsoft guns! So much is sensationalized any more. As well I agree indeed the police at times will try and justify their actions by letting it be assumed this was a dangerous fella and they made our world safer.

I also find it rather odd that the police obtained a search warrent for the property, seized this "dangerous" stash but didnt make any arrests "and efforts do include speaking to persons of interest that may have connections with the property."

That is why I found the article and situation interesting. Has anyone else seen any follow ups on this "news" story? Thankfully they are destroying the Long Gun registry.

Hey Quebecker: I found your reference about the U.S. authorities and Mormon canneries interesting. Check out my post under long term food storage.
