It arrived, I will test it out tonight.

I should add since I see these come with 18650 cells. I know they will be craptacular cells, but for anyone local who wants good quality, fair priced 18650s (not fake). I know a local supplier who gets good cells Just PM me and I will send you his contact info. So good I even built a spare battery for my bike from his stock.
That plastic open ended tube is to help the battery fit in tighter, you likely figured that out but figured it’s worth mentioning because when I first opened it up, I was trying to figure out what the heck it was for. 😳
And, what do you think of the 37.00 light?
I would say its good. I plan to mount it on my bike for stealthy night riding. On second thought that does not sound wise. Stealthy is not what I want to be on public roads. I will use it for night time off road trails

Agree, good is perfect description. For 38 I view the package as awesome deal. I am sure there are equal deals but for me, this is the best I have found for this type of product/s
How long the electronics last I have no idea but if it’s as good as the machining, it should be good. Glad I was able to partially return the favor you have provided with your solar inputs
Emptied a store of turkey breasts, adding more frozen veggies, canned goods, another large bag of rice. Boy do we have rice! Probiotics, got another three months supply of meds so getting closer to a years supply now for all meds. Have a full years supply for two of the heart meds. But when you pay out of pocket, it’s expensive 900.00 in one day for three months supply hurts.
5 X 8oz bottles hand sanitizer
4 X 2oz bottles hand sanitizer
4 X 500ml alcohol
4 X safety goggles (indirect vent)
2 X Tyvek coveralls (need more)
Duct Tape
Food, food, and then some more food!
Another bag powdered milk (makes 25 liters)

Sigh....three more on the way....if you haven't discovered yet, unscrew the front lens and you have a fire starter lens, or a great magnifier for digging out a splinter....tactical splinter finder thingy...tactical. Tactical damn it!

😆 😆 😆 😆 That’s hilarious, told my wife and she’s roaring with laughter. Oddly, she hasn’t said, don’t you dare! For 38.00 it’s hard to beat all the stuff you get.
Like the idea of the lens for fire or splinter. I bet that you were in great pain when you thought of the tactical side. Your now branded being tacticoool 😆 the horror
Just a follow up to below post and peppercorns note on the use of flashlight lens for fire or splinters. As soon as he said it, I went oh ya, forgot about the fire aspect. Have to admit that with age, ones keen mind isn’t as keen as it once was. So while it may sound obvious to some, or for some to have known about something, it may not hurt to slip in the odd reminder on what was once an obvious concept!
A year or century ago, I had mentioned the need and use of maintenance lists to help keep things current. May be worthwhile to go over our little lists and see if there’s anything we need to top up. Fuel filters, car or tractor batteries..........
As prepared folks, we are looking to be as self sufficient or in as good a shape as possible and as such have a lot on our plate. This on a normal, let’s get ready day. As people or circumstances may start to draw upon our mind, it probably wouldn't hurt while writing up an update to throw in little reminders on some of the dual benefits of this or that.
This weekend we took advantage of a local sale on chicken legs. You know, drumstick & thigh with a little bit of back attached.
We bought 42, which for a family of 4, would be about 10 meals, so we thought we could stretch it a bit.
We first skinned them, then cut off the back part. The skins went to waste, but the backs made for a great broth for soup for supper last night.
Then, we took the time to debone them all, a couple hours work while we watched the news, listened to some YouTube, etc.
The bones went into another batch of broth, while we ground up the meat.
The meat gave us 11 1lb bags of ground chicken for the freezer and the broth went into 4 liter jars that are in the pressure canner as I type.
Oh yeah, we also took 12 drumsticks and put those in the freezer for fried chicken.
So, we got:
Ground chicken - 11 meals
back broth soup - 1 meal
drumsticks - 1 meal
bone broth - 4 meals
That's 16 meals for the price of 10.
Of course the soups require some veggies, beans, rice, etc. but thanks to the sales at Bulk Barn lately, we're well stocked up on that.
Why did you throw out skins?
Prepared in consideration of rail blockades and heeding the advice of our beloved government (“Be prepared!”)
Picked up extra chicken feed, topped up dry goods and can stuff. That is all. No apocalyptic mad dash to the stores...
Oh, and I keep tending to my good looking seedlings in the basement!
This past week we made a new spread sheet to look at things in a slightly different way given a number of new factors compared to normal.
we did get out to the feed store, the local store that had a great sale on pasta and I did order in a few more things off amazon.. Getting the youngest female cat fixed.. might not seem like a prep but do not want kittens
Got my bigger bulk seed order in on the "calorie" producers.. I shake my head a little bit watching others all focused on greens or salad fixings.. They will get planted but they are the in-fill, the extra.. My focus is solidly on calorie crops..

Why did you throw out skins?
Honestly, we couldn't figure out anything useful to do with them.
Open to suggestions though...
Getting maple syrup stuff and bush ready! Have lots left over from even two years ago but what the heck, adding a few more gallons won’t hurt. Use it a lot for bbq chicken, pork and ribs. Mmm mmm good
For those who are not setup or wish to boil it down, consider just saving the sap in jars to drink!
I also boil some of it down, but leave as a very light liquid to add to a sauce and give a very light flavor.
Pretty well stocked up on stuff and focusing on seedlings and taking advice on this forum to test older seeds and make sure they are still good !

Do you like crunchy bits of bacon bits in things? if the answer is yes, then you can use the skins.. you can fry them up or some folks like to bake them up and cook till crispy.. then take out hot and cut them into bits, spread out and allow to cool and into the fridge and now you have crackle bits to use just like you would bacon bits.. cook them in a touch of bacon fat and you even add the flavour to them lol
